Great location - casual "cottage like" vibe

4 of 5
We stayed at the Beach House for two weeks in February. Prior to arriving I had a number of questions and the owner responded promptly to my enquiries. It is exactly as described and photographed on the website - no surprises - I really value that. We were visiting from Toronto where the temperatures we the lowest recorded in history for February so even though it wasn't seasonal temps in Florida we didn't mind 20 degree Celsius and in the backyard by the pool it was much warmer in the sun and no problem lying around in bathing suits and swimming. When it did get colder there were lots of things to do and explore in the area so no complaints. We travelled with 4 grown children in their 20's and they drove off to Orlando one cold day to see Harry Potter World and loved it. Lots of great places to eat close by - we walked to Lobstahs, Hurricane Hanks, and took the free trolley to the pier in Anna Maria and had lunch there as well as into Bradenton beach where we had lunch at the pier there and dinner at Bridge Tenders as well as the Beachhouse. All great restaurants! The Publix grocery store and Wallgreens liquour store are close by. We bought a basketball at the Ace hardware as there are community basketball courts just a short walk away. We didn't bring tennis racquets and couldn't rent any but there are also community tennis courts close by. The beach is beautiful - we didn't spend much time on it just because it was too cool and windy but great for walking on while we were there - just not laying out - although there were some real beach lovers who were! Anna Maria Beach Café is also a great place to hang out and watch the sunset and have a cocktail. Everything you need to cook at home is provided. As the pictures show the table in the dining room area only accommodates 4 so with a party of 6 a couple of people have to eat at the bar - no issues from our perspective as our meals at home were more casual anyway. We had hoped to eat outside more by the pool when we bbq'd at home but the weather didn't cooperate. If you're looking for a 5 star resort holiday this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a great place to hang out comfortably with family and feel relaxed in a casual setting this is definitely the place for you.
