This is our second visit to Pelican Grand beach Resort and second time renting this unit. We had the same expectations as we did in 2013 not seeing anything different on the owner's site. There are a few changes to the in-room amenities that were not noted. You are now charged $19.95 per day per device that you connect to the internet because you are in an owner's suite vs. a hotel suite where internet is free. There is no soap or shampoo provided as there was last year. According to the hotel, this amenity stopped as of Feb 2014. It was just enough to get you through the first day or two, but something should be noted so renters are aware. Also we were not able to view in-room movies or access the hotel restaurant and in-room dining menus on the television, again because we not renting directly from the hotel. These issues are minor, however when you have the same expectations from the year before you are a bit disappointed and the $19.95 internet charge was not something had planned on.
The Pelican is a lovely resort and service is top-notch. You do not pay a resort fee so that can somewhat offset the internet charge. There is some construction going on at the hotel through Jan 2015 and it was loud at times while you were sitting on the beach. All and all, still a good value - just be aware of some of the in-room amenities that you do not have. The room was clean and plenty of towels are provided. The ocean front view and sunrises are amazing.
