My husband and I just spent 3 weeks [Feb-March 2015] in Redington Shores at the Carousel Motel. We enjoyed both the motel and the area and are planning to go back next year.
The Carousel is an old-style motel from many years ago. It is a small, one-storey facility. The owner, Judy, lives on the premises and is very friendly and helpful. She works hard and keeps the place clean and nice. She has refurnished and updated the units.
The location is conveniently located to many places in walking distance. This was important because we did not have a car. You can walk to the beach from the motel in about 3 minutes. There are restaurants in walking distance. To go further afield you take the Suncoast Trolley which runs between St. Petersburg and Clearwater, with many stops, including one right outside the motel.
Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary is a 10 minute walk either along the beach or Gulf Boulevard. They rescue and rehabilitate local birds and admission is free.
Beach yoga right on the beach next to the motel. I was able to do yoga 3-4 times a week and it was wonderful. [beachyogapinellas.com]
