Great location, friendly owners, would rent again

4 of 5
TL;DR: nice house in a great location. Feels like a private beach. Great views, plenty of food and shopping in the area, lots of things to do if you get bored of sitting on the beach. We stayed in the Gull house which is the "cottage" of the three homes on the property, because I was specifically looking to have a view of the ocean. The house is well equipped with what appear to be nearly new appliances. Simply furnished but comfortable. It is 25 yards from the beach, maybe 50 to the water at high tide. The views are nice, the backyard is actually pretty private considering it shares the property with two other homes; the only time you'll see people is if there are other guests walking down to the beach. There aren't any hotels right near the property, so the beach was very quiet. Only other residents and guests, and the occasional couple walking the beach. If you want to hang out by the water, it's very nice. The building itself is showing it's age a bit, there are some unused electrical junction boxes hanging off the building in places (outside), and the inside "white wash" was done so hastily that there's literally white paint splashed on everything from the ceiling fan blades to the door hinges, to the floor. That won't distract from your enjoyment at all, but it keeps the property from being 5-stars IMO. The owners were both very friendly and helpful, although I didn't have an excuse to interact with either of them very much. Frederico (sp?) met us when we arrived and showed us around; unfortunately Valerie was busy and I only got to converse with her via phone. Just personal notes: * Avoid the Firehouse restaurant (steakhouse). Way overpriced for the quality and atmosphere. Way, way. * Do try the Burger Inn if you want a fast (not McDonalds fast, but quick) burger, served carside, that's also delicious. * Go to the Brevard zoo! * Kayak tours, listed in owners binder of things to do, require 24 hour notice to set up. The owners are typically "on the water" starting in the morning, so you won't be able to reach them!

Waterfront paradise

5 of 5
My husband and I spent two glorious weeks in December of 2014 at the Boat House. The property exceeded our expectations. This riverfront cottage, which has been completely renovated offered us an unbelievable front row view to the incredible Intracoastal where we saw a floating parade of passing yachts, sailboats, and every kind of marine craft available. The boathouse also has a screened in front porch where we sat every morning with coffee enjoying the beautiful sunrises, dolphins at play, and a wide variety of seabirds. The boathouse was so relaxing that we had to force ourselves to actually leave. When we did leave we discovered nearby numerous restaurants and two really nice supermarkets and several pharmacies. The nearby village of Sebastian has a gorgeous river walk and we exercised there frequently. The owners were extremely hospitable and provided us with all the privacy we needed. What we enjoyed most about the Boat House was the feeling of being on a house boat. We would certainly come here again and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience all the beautiful nature this area has to offer.

Off to a good start

5 of 5
We were the first official customers in this recently remodeled cottage. Don't be afraid of the sq. ft total ... the floor plan is wide open, giving a spacious feel. Kitchen, dining room, living room all connected ... outstanding original Dade County hardwood flooring throughout. The new double-door walk in shower is fantastic, as is the huge king bed. Internet and TV service weren't quite ready yet but coming soon. Large antique desk available for computer use etc. Owner has purchased and mounted a Samsung 40" LED HD Smart TV on the wall and I believe there will soon be a DVD and maybe Blu-Ray player available. We didn't stay inside long enough to miss these items but they will be good for anyone considering a longer stay. The location is perfect: walking distance to old historic downtown shops and events along the river. A short drive to the north or south gets you to Port St. Lucie, Jupiter, Hutchinson Island, Fort Pierce, and other places of interest. Just blocks away is US 1 highway, which provides many shopping and dining options within 2 or 3 miles to the north or south. Owner was very easy to work with and readily available for questions if needed. He was also helpful with tourist attraction suggestions in the area. The cottage helped make our visit from the much colder climate of central Indiana a huge success.
