Having travelled via VRBO all over the world with family including 2 kids, you just can't beat this place for price, location, amenities and service. The reviews and filled calender say it all. What more can I say:
Emerald Island Resort is gated and nicely kept up. There's a beautiful entry way with dophins and fountains. The guard lets you in and there's a rec center with pool, small arcade and tiki bar, plus weekly entertainment, e.g. karoke night.
Nearby convenient Winn Dixie foodstore, but I can't recommend the Chinese restaurant next door. The main drag 192 offers cheap, giant gift shops, cute mini-golfs everywhere, and Medieval Times which our kids loved, down the road.
A quick back route takes you to Disney. One day, I and one daughter, needing a Park break, dropped off wife and other daughter at Magic Kingdom- go thru MK parking booths, stay right, tell them you're dropping off, it's free and nobody else does it. Daughter and I stayed at the house to swim, pick them up later.
Universal, my favorite, 20 minutes via highway. Go early to the parks, use Fast Pass+ at Disney. If possible choose a quiet time of the year. Our waits were no longer than 20 minutes per ride. Eat lunch early around 10:30-11:00AM, e.g. at "3 Broomsticks" or "Leaky Cauldron" if at HPland. Be smart, rest, enjoy yourself or just go back to the wonderful house and kick back.
Penny provides all the info you need. Front door uses a punch code; great soccer pinball- if flippers stick- be patient- a ball will free them up. Pool a good temp.- we arrived during a record low- and still could use it. Pool cover helps. All backdoors have pool alarm if someone opens it plus fencing about pool- lights at night. Easy to use BBQ.
Quiet clean neightboorhood. VIP trash pickup- they curb it for you. We watched a family of flamingoes? strolling down the sidewalk. 1 hour to Cocoa Beach and ocean. Too much to do here- will return next year.
Neat place, comfy beds- Penny makes it easy and efficient to rent.
