Idyllic vacation spot

5 of 5
No reason to spend hours on the Internet researching the perfect destination - we simply returned to Chateau Blanc. What more could anyone want - a pristine, nearly deserted beach 20 steps out the door (I didn't count them this year) or a crystal clear, heated pool 20 steps in the other direction. Chateau Blanc is clean, spacious and comfortable with plenty of kitchen tools for whenever you might like to cook in. And there are great pool floats for the eight year old in you. Pick up provisions at Jerry's Market on Sanibel right on the way to the house and enjoy breakfast and lunch on the screened porch watching the ocean, the boats and the paddle boarders go by. There might be dark sky rules for the nesting turtles so at night there are thousands more stars than what we see from the city and it is so very quiet both day and night. Captiva and Sanibel cover the full spectrum of restaurants - whatever you feel like having you will find close by. I hate to shop and have no time for it but it is quite enjoyable - between all of the mini shopping centers on both Captiva and Sanibel you can find everything from the requisite tee shirts to Roberto Coin at Congress Jewelers - so go shop and enjoy! Ella and her family are all so nice and so helpful - and thank you for the aloe leaves from across the street and yes! aloe does really work on sunburn. Thank you Ella - we had another great vacation and we are looking at dates for next year. See you soon!

My family very much enjoyed our stay in the beautiful Captiva Vacation Home this past January. We have stayed many, many times on Sanibel and decided to try Captiva this year. It was a very good decision, we enjoyed the spacious, clean, well-equipped home much more than we anticipated. We brought along our own fishing poles and made good use of the fishing dock behind the property. We enjoyed walking our dog around the beautiful yard and noticing the many different fauna. We were fortunate while we were there to see dolphins, an eagle, alligators (at Ding Darling) and of course came back with some beautiful shells. The owners were very helpful with dinner suggestions and side activities, I highly recommend the Edison-Ford Winter Estates tour in Ft. Myers. The walk across the street was made much easier by the use of the cart provided along with the beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, etc. This was the first time we had stayed at a place that was so well-equipped. The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed. The ONLY helpful comment I can make is that the beds were a little worn and were hard on our backs. My son and brother-in-law had both had back surgery and had a difficult time sleeping. Fortunately, this is an easy fix to make a wonderful vacation home the absolute BEST on the island!

Repeat Customer… Same Great Experience!

5 of 5
I encourage anyone reading this to also read my review from 2012. It was as if we never left the island from two years ago; same great views of the gulf from the master bedroom balcony, fantastic heated pool and hot tub, gourmet kitchen, fantastic theater room for watching college football, and great outdoor dining. I would encourage anyone thinking of renting this property to take advantage of the adult and kids bikes and street legal golf cart for $400, definitely worth it! Everything on the main drag is within walking distance of the home, just pick up groceries in Ft. Meyers or Sanibel Island before settling down for the stay. Multiple days were spent at the beach, which was just a walk across the street. The owners have added a cart to hall your beach gear, which was a plus! We had a large family staying the week and it did not feel crowded, plenty of space for the kids and adults. Multiple restaurants have opened up since our last stay on Sanibel and Captiva, make sure to check out Trip Advisor for the latest and greatest eateries. Easy walk from the beach house... Sunset cruise is a must. Book a 2 hour cruise with Captiva Cruises on the main drag, inter coastal side. The cruise takes you up past North Captiva and into the gulf for a beautiful sunset. The cruise is full of island history, interesting facts about the wildlife, and great dolphin watching. Last thing… The management company, American Realty of Captiva, responded within 24 hours to a small repair needed at the property. The staff person was very understanding of the situation and asked if anything else needed to be addressed outside of the original issue. This great customer service and peace of mind separates Aloha Baby from the rest of the competition, 5 stars.
