                                        Comfortable and Complete

                                        5 of 5
Our family of 5, plus 2 grandparents, have stayed in the Eagle's Landing home four times in the past three years. The house has become almost a home away from home; always in good order and familiar. We've stayed in other homes on the island, but this one, while not the newest or fanciest, is our favorite. We've never had the kind of problems noted by the prior reviewer, which is what prompted me to write this review, simply because it is so different from our experience over multiple stays. We've found it clean and comfortable every time we've arrived. It is an older home, but well kept, and we've never experienced a failure or problem. The A/C and water have never even been a thought. The house has an ideal layout for enjoying the location to its fullest; open and spacious. The back porch directly overlooks the beach, less than 30 yards from the dune line. The bedrooms are comfortable and the kitchen area is roomy and accommodating with an island range and plenty of counter space. There is a large deck under the home, open to the dune and beach, raised just above ground level. When there is a breeze, it is a perfectly positioned spot to sit and relax in the shade after time on the beach. The outdoor shower and foot rinsing faucets on ground level make it easy to rinse off before going up one of the two sets of stairs to the house. Both are positioned on a plank deck so you don't have to stand in sand to rinse sand off. Our 3 children; presently 11-15 in age; love the house, the proximity to the beach, and the deck and porch spaces. My parents are in their late 60's, and are equally comfortable there. It is not a 5 star luxury accommodation, but that's what makes it ideal for summer vacations. You can relax and enjoy the comfort and space without worrying about getting fingerprints on the wall or tarnishing the fixtures! The Mackin agency has always been helpful and very responsive when we've had questions and during the booking process. The one time we had a concern; minor and nothing to do with a major problem or maintenance; they were quick to respond and take care of us. We've had no complaints through three family trips of 8-10 days each and one couples only weekend. Notably, each of the couples with us on that weekend loved the house, as well. We'll be going back in 2015!

                                        Upscale and private

                                        5 of 5
We have vacationed all over the world, but now that the kids are of school age we tend to stay closer to home to minimize their absences from school. Tranquility did not disappoint. The house is immaculate. There is an elevator to make it convenient not only for the family, but also for lugging suitcases up and down from the third floor. The house was professionally decorated to match the decor expected from over a million dollar beach house. The second and third floor balconies have electric screen enclosures that can be opened and closed with the touch of a remote button. The kitchen is a gourmet style with every amenity imaginable. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated with everything you would need for an extended stay. In the golf cart garage there are beach toys for the kids and umbrellas to stay out of the sun. At the end of the boardwalk to the beach there are resort quality loungers for use on the beach. The beach and water are pristine, some of the clearest water I've ever seen in the Gulf. And I grew up in Florida on the gulf coast. Outdoor shower, jacuzzi, and covered patio round out the whole experience. They have a concierge that will go to the store for you with your list of items and stock the house with whatever you'd like during your stay. There is a gold cart for use while you're there as well as a minivan with ferry pass to ease the cost of going back and forth to the mainland. I've read complaints about all the warnings posted at the house as far as don't do this and don't so that. I found the posts helpful and friendly reminders of the expectations of how to care for a house of this magnitude. Some people are just not respectful of other peoples things. If this was my house and would do the same thing. It's not some dated rental with furnishings that can be abused. It's an upscale residence that sits right on the beach. If you have kids that are disrespectful or not used to being around expensive furnishings then this house is not for you. We loved the house, the island, and the privacy. we will definitely go there again.
