As we look forward to our next stay at Villa Portofino in 2015, I am reminded of how we came to find this wonderful home away from home. Friends used Homeaway to rent their home in NH and so we started looking on that site for FL homes to rent for the winter. We chanced upon Villa Portofino and a quick email from Nadja in answer to a question had me feeling that this was the place for us to spend the winter. Her friendly, but businesslike manner was exactly what I was looking for.
When we arrived at Villa Portofino, we expected a lovely home, based on the pictures we had seen. We did not expect it to feel so much like our own home in just a few days. The floor plan is well laid out and the decorating is understated. All the necessary tools to cook and run a house are at your fingertips (well, we did buy a couple of cheap champagne glasses with which to toast our first night there). We ate most of our meals on the patio by the pool, which made us forget the terrible winter everyone was having back home! The few guests that we had loved the house and the feeling of not being in our way because of how the house is laid out.
Though a few minor things needed to be repaired during our stay, Nadja and Friedrich were more than ready to make things right. They are a pleasure to deal with. They also made themselves available to answer questions about the house and the area, which we found very helpful because of their extensive knowledge of Cape Coral and Ft. Myers and beyond. The Ensenkecks seem more like gracious hosts than landlords.
though the neighborhood is a quiet one, there are restaurants and shopping nearby. Cape Coral is well laid out and there are many miles of walking and biking paths. and though there is plenty to do in the area for nightlife, we often felt a relaxing evening by the pool was just the thing!
We are very much looking forward to next winter at Villa Portifino and would recommend it highly as a wonderful and relaxing way to spend a vacation or longer stay.
