We just loved our week at Lady of the Lake! I can't tell you enough good things about it. We kayaked as suggested and also ventured north up the mangrove channel in our rental boat where we were able to closely experience about 8 manatee breaches. They were amazing and awe inspiring. The osprey were numerous, as were the dolphins we spotted out near Matlacha. (Which I now know how to pronounce!) We enjoyed the Wednesday night regular songster at Bert's Bar and went back with the whole gang for the Friday night fish fry which was awesome. The locals we met were very friendly and welcoming.
We biked each day around the neighborhood for some exercise. I was able to swim laps in the pool also. This was my first time swimming in a salt water pool, and I just loved it. It is SO much nicer than a strongly chlorinated pool! The bird of paradise tree in the lanai is just lovely and the other colorful plants are as well. It was such a nice change of scenery from snow! Our son began fishing upon arrival, before he even unpacked anything, and spent most of his time catching what I think were blue catfish from the dock but the jumping mullet were elusive!
It was just a wonderful week from the minute we walked in the front door until we had to pack up and go home. The pictures don't do your home justice! Thank you so much!
