We just got home today from our fantastic Panama City Beach Vacation. We loved this condo with its primo location. The Calypso is a very short walk to Pier Park which was a huge selling point for us. We had dinner there, listened to live music, shopped, etc. The kids played at the big video game place, got ice cream and candy and shopped for souvenirs.
The biggest selling feature for me for this condo was the ceramic tile floors throughout the place! Last year we stayed at a place with carpeting in the bedrooms. We left early because I no longer could stand the heavy perfume smell that was put on the carpet to cover up the mold smell it had. My sister and her family also stayed at a unit at the Calypso this past week which had carpeting in the bedroom. Her room smelled of cigarettes even though it is a no smoking unit.
The view also was a huge selling feature! We had an absolutely breathtaking view!
Another great feature of this unit is that you never have to use the elevator! The garage crossover is on the 3rd floor. On moving in day, people grabbed up the luggage carts and then stood in a miserably long line to get on the elevators. We were able to squeeze past the people and just walk into our room, which was a tremendous bonus!
At times, we did take the elevator if it was available but it was no big deal to walk down 2 flights of stairs.
I also really like the washer and dryer in the unit. The washer is enormous! I want one just like it for my house. It could easily fit 5 thick beach towels. I washed beach towels, our bathing suits, and the bath towels every day. It was so quick and easy…no noise because it is a full laundry room with a door.
The management is perfect. On Sunday, I called Dave informing him that our toaster was broken. We had a new one by Monday morning. One evening, my son discovered that our blender was broken. Jan delivered one the very next day. We were very pleased with the service.
The only negative was that the floor was not well cleaned.(The children's feet were black.) The unit was tidy and the counters were all wiped down so that it looked nice. However, when we opened the sofa bed, we found corn chips (which we had not eaten) and toys underneath as well as dirt and dust. I did not complain because I saw no point in it. I have stayed at several condos up and down the coast and they are all the same. I never walk barefooted. It didn't bother us. Such a minor thing.
