Lovely Beach house.

4 of 5
The house was lovely and we loved that it was so close to the beach. The only down side was the house smelled like old smoke but we still enjoyed our stay and had great vacation.

true South!

5 of 5
The previous review (posted July 28, 2014) is very informative, and I fully agree with it - except regarding kitchen utensils: we found the kitchen fully stocked, from utensils to spices. So, there was nothing else we would wish to be added. Same applies to the entire house: it has everything, nothing is missing inside or outside. Good Wi-Fi. There are even a couple of fishing rods (one - with reel, but we did not use them), and a good large crab trap (that we used, and caught a lot of blue crabs). Just don't forget to release all female crabs, please! Crabbing requires FL fishing license. There are beach chairs and some toys, too. The house is excellent: beachfront, spacious, comfortable, designed with taste. All appliances are new. However, the house is not the main reason that we loved this vacation - it is the nature that makes all the difference! Again, previous review says it all. I will add a few practical tips: 1. Definitely get insect repellent! This is for outside only, as the house has screened porches. There were no bugs during the day, but they start coming later in the evening. No mosquitoes, but some small flies (gnats? no-see-ems?) that low-concentration DEET repels completely. Info correct for end-July. 2. Get water shoes. Many hermit crabs (and other shells) in the water. Also please note that this is not Panama City Beach with its emerald crystal clear water and white sand! Sand on the beach is white and clean all right, but water is more like tea-colored, and sand on the sea bottom may be covered in spots with thin layer of mud. Similar to Jekyll Island beaches, if you know. However, in the Bald Point State Park (20 min walking or 2 min driving East from the house) - the beach is all sand, and water is very clear. 3. Take $1 bills to pay for above mentioned park ($4 per car). Park has several entrances, one is unmarked (the one where you can launch canoe into the Lake, or fish from bridge). See Park website for more info. 4. Nearest "anything" (gas, food, bait, etc.) is is Panacea, about 20-30 min driving. The Marina in Alligator Point is closer (15 min driving), but all they sell is Coke and Bug (no gas for cars, only for boats). Supermarket in Panacea is closing at 8 PM. 5. Water in the Gulf is mostly still, so bring your kayaks and canoes. Many thanks to Mr. Fritz for a beautiful house!

Nice, rejuvenating vacation

5 of 5
Booked from 5/3/14 until 5/10/14. Three of us, me, my hubby and a large older dog had a fantastic time visiting Alligator Point again. We love the area and try to get here a couple of times a year just to decompress and unwind. The house is perfect for that and with the basketball finals going on, the TV was on for game-time, Nascar and premium movie channels all the time. Wi-fi was welcome as I brought laptops and tablet since I normally stay connected. No restaurants near-by so cooked a lot and grilled out. All in all, a GREAT vacation spot. Only drawback is that there is no dock... but within 3 miles of public beach.
