FANTASTIC LOCATION

4 of 5
I stayed at this Rome property in July 2014 with my wife and teen-age daughter. It was quite adequate for our needs and I would probably stay there again. It's located on a quiet, mostly car-less street populated by local residents, restaurants, and shops. It's very close to Navona square, and quite close to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain (under reconstruction), St. Peter's Basilica, Spanish steps, and many other scenic and historical attractions. We walked to St. Peter's and the Pantheon every day! It's a long walk from the railway station but we only had to do that once, and I think a taxi or metro would take just as long as walking. There is a big bed in the bedroom and a fold-out sofa in the living room. There's a small kitchen area with a good refrigerator. The kitchen is not very well equipped, though we did use it to make instant coffee and toast. There's no dishwasher, and kitchen stuff was not clean -- perhaps put away, half-cleaned by other visitors. Wifi worked great. Air conditioner worked great. Plumbing was not well maintained. The shower had lots of mildew and the shower door leaked and flooded the bathroom. There was a distinct mildew smell especially in the bedroom that was difficult to completely forget. In general the place was not well designed, maintained, cleaned, or cared-for. There's a step in the hall / kitchen-area with black tile all around. Each of us tripped on that step a dozen times, though never fatally! The management offers a driver, Antonio, who drove us to the airport at the end of our stay. He was reasonable, reliable, on-time, safe, and communicative in making arrangements. The management and administration of this place did not communicate well -- I'm sure they thought I was high-maintenance. My initial query and scheduling was handled by Nicola. I sent my deposit to Nausi. And Iryna would handle my arrival, though I didn't get an email address for her yet. I made the reservation 9 months before my stay and when I tried to reconfirm my reservation a few weeks before my arrival, nobody responded until my third try -- this didn't leave a fuzzy feeling that everything would execute well! Eventually they sent me an email address for Iryna. Finally we arrived at the property on time and waited and waited -- it turned out that the property address that Nicola originally sent us 9 months previously was wrong -- Iryna was waiting at the correct place. Still we had a great time in Rome!

CLASSY, COMFORTABLE & AFFORDABLE

5 of 5
We stayed in this apartment for 5 days / 4 nights. The owner was kind enough to arrange airport pick up for us (for an additional small fee). The apartment was light, airy, cool and comfortable. I booked the apartment for 5 people total, and with 2 bedrooms with nice beds and a comfortable pull out bed, we all slept well. The apartment was clean, well maintianed and had nice ammenities. It was great having 2 bathrooms with 5 of us getting ready in the morning. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, dishes and utensils to cook. There were also some basics like olive oil, salt, pasta, etc on hand. There were 3 grocery stores within walking distance as well as a nice fish market and some great fruit and vegetable shops (which were more afforadable than the grocery stores). There were some cafes and bars around, but if you want to eat out I would suggest staying in the city center. The metro is about a 10 min walk from the apartment, which might be a little long for some. For us, it was worth the walk to be outside of the hustle and bustle of the heart of the city and in an actual neighborhood. It was nice and quiet here. The jetted tub was nice after a long day of walking all over the city. The owner was prompt and did a great job responding to all our questions. My only suggestion would be a book or binder with information about the area and maps for guests. Thanks for such a nice stay!

BREATHTAKING AND MEMORABLE WEEK IN TUSCANY!

5 of 5
Our group of 7 couples (friends from college) recently concluded a magical week's stay at Podere le Rondini. Nicola, Allesandra, Paola, and their family welcomed us with open arms. After a delayed flight and long journey, we enjoyed our first meal and night together on the 2nd floor porch of Paola's residence. She had lovingly prepared a meal of antipasto, pasta"pici", skewers of pork, chicken, and outrageous sausages. All the while, the carafes of wonderful, red wine from their vineyard flowed. The meal was capped with a slice of her homemade cake and a shot of Lemoncello. The accomodations at Podere exceeded our expectations! The Capacie comfortably housed six couples while a seventh stayed in an apartment tucked behind Paola's villa. Lemon and olive trees with views of Montespertoli and beyond were our landscape. Day trips to Siena, Venice, Lucca, Florence, and the lovely hilltop town of Volterra were all reachable from our villa. Although we enjoyed our travels, the underrated, charming town of Montespertoli was a ten minute drive away. Markets, food, shopping, wonderful restaurants, and evening volleyball games were all available in this modest town. When we come again, we will likely choose to spend more time reading by the lovely (and large) pool and simply taking in our surroundings. To Nicola and Paola...how can we thank you enough for your constant patience and guidance and ALWAYS with a smile! Paola, we will never forget how you prepared a Sparkler cake for us on the 4th of July and how you danced with us to Frankie Valle and the Four Seasons!! You have not only been perfect hosts, but also, role models for how one should live life. We will never forget you and our time at your welcoming villa. We truly hope to return one day soon!!
