We had very high expectations of this property due to the other reviews and the photos of the apartment. Our expectations were more than exceeded! This apartment was probably the difference between our having an excellent holiday versus a very lovely holiday. It was an oasis from the chaos of the city and yet just minutes away from the vibrancy of the city.
In terms of location, the apartment is a 5 minute walk to a central metro line and a 10 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. And yet, when you're in the neighborhood, you feel like you're a Parisian. In a 2-3 "block" radius there is a fromagerie, an excellent boulangerie, a chocolate shop, two butcher shops, two grocery stores, a flower shop, a bistro full of locals, and so much more.
The layout of the apartment is also excellent -it's like an American "townhouse" in that the downstairs contains the living space (dining area, kitchen, living room, and small bathroom) and the upstairs has the personal space (the bedroom, a landing that works as a tv/reading room and workspace, and a large bathroom). The layout means that you're not constantly stumbling over one another. There's plenty of room to be together (we were just two people) and to also have some quiet time. The apartment furnishings are lovely, but not so precious that you feel like you're in a museum. I felt welcome to look through the many books, play CDs, and make good use of the kitchen.
The apartment owner provided excellent service and information that prepared us well for the trip. The property was very clean and well maintained. We were met by the housekeeper who had prepared a "snack" of cheese, fruit, bread, almond, cakes, and wine for us upon arrival. She showed us the ins/outs of the property, and made sure we knew how to reach her.
I travel very frequently for work and my husband and I travel quite a bit for vacations. We love hotels and tend to stay in 4-5 star hotels. So, we've enjoyed a certain level of comfort and reception. I've even stayed in nice hotels in Paris, but having a "home" in Paris is so much nicer than having a "room"! Our experience at this apartment was by far the most delightful we've had on a holiday ever.
I highly recommend this apartment to other travelers and plan to come back as soon as possible!
