What a Treat!!!

5 of 5
We had such an amazing time in Tuscany and expecially in the villa that not a day goes by that we don't think of some aspect of our trip. IIf you are looking for a great vacation in the beautiful Chianti Region, close to Siena and Florence, excellent restaurants, vineries, and some of the most spectacular scenary you can imagine, then look no further. Stars filled sky, ripe juicy and sweet pomegranates to grab from a pot just outside of the kitchen, the terrace a magnificent place to relax where we spent several evenings drinking wine in the sound of nature, it was heavenly! This was one of the many times in Italy and by far the best place we've ever stayed. As many have already written the villa is beautiful, meticulously maintained and the entire process of planning our trip, from arranging transportation to the airport, to suggestions about where to eat and shop, booking excursions and cooking classes could not have been easier The owners, Marina and Roberto and manager Barbara were absolutely wonderful. They provided assistance with everything from the time of booking being so patient and kind with all the emails and questions we had. Before heading home, Marina helped to organize our long weekend in the Sorrento Coast. It was Perfect: she sent a driver to meet us at the Naples train station to take us directely to Pompei, wait during our visit then drive us to our hotel in the Coast where, they suggest the best pizza we ever had! The day after we took a boat right at the hotel pier and visited Capri : what a treat! We would highly recommend this villa, never thanks enough Marina and Roberto for allowing us to stay at La Casa del Poggio and their guidance organizing this unforgetable Vacanza Italiana! Fabulous two weeks!

5 of 5
We spent a fabulous two weeks at Casale Fornaci, making home made delicious pizza in the outdoor oven and very much enjoyed dining al fresco in the mild November weather! We felt like we were back in time, hearing the distant gun shots of the hunters rifles surrounded by the lush, untampered outdoor surroundings in a 13 century restoration that has the authentic flair one would expect from a Tuscan Villa, yet with all the modern amenities we needed at hand. The surrounding town and village were charming...we loved the thursday market in Castelnuovo and we suggest planning your evening outings as not all restaurants are open daily, although Barbara was a tremendous help with everything local -We had hoped to pick olives during the harvest, but mother nature interfered. We quickly filled our timetable with activities suggested in the 'house book’ as well as spending time on the grounds. We hope to return next year for a fruitful harvest!

Perfection!!

5 of 5
Staying at this Villa for 7 days was the ending of our travels through Europe for the month. What a beautiful and relaxing way to wrap up our holiday. I chose this Villa based on the consistency of the 5 star reviews. I have never seen that level of consistent high ratings before so I was prepared for less than 5 star experience, however, I was so wrong. I was pleasantly surprised to find that all reviews were spot on!! The villa was immaculate upon arrival and exactly as advertised on the website. The property is very pretty and quiet, just as shown in the photos on this site. We took many walks to the small town of Citta della Pieve where we enjoyed friendly warm and welcoming individuals, excellent meals, and of course Gelato. This town is a charming quintessential small Italian town. In the evenings it comes alive with people who obviously know each other and fill the streets with laughter. You are enveloped in the feeling of a small art community with deep roots and historic tales to tell. Jacopo has his own line of wine and olive oil from his property which we imbibed and enjoyed nightly…. He leaves wine and olive oil in the Villa and operates on the "honor system". We commented nightly how amazed we were comparing his 8 Euro bottle of wine to our $30 wine bottle purchases in the states. Such a treat! Another review commented on lack of music options and I second that comment. Maybe Jacopo would consider adding a music option to the Villa. There is a lovely simplicity to the grounds. Every morning the pool and grounds are cleaned so you arise to a fresh sparkling environment each day. And while Jacopo is on site every day to attend to these enhancements, he is ultra-respectful of your privacy - most of the time he comes and goes without you being aware of his presence. The Villa is tranquil and quiet at night and in the early morning. We slept with windows open every night and rested to the subtle sounds of crickets and light breezes through the valley. The main views from the house offer only olive groves and Umbrian hillsides. There is a resident fox who visited us each evening as we enjoyed the outside dining area. We were shocked at the fox’s comfort in our company. Spending a week in an Italian Villa has been on my bucket list for years. This Villa met every detail of my imagined experience when I created my bucket list.
