I just returned from Casa Los Arcos last week. It is set in a beautiful secluded area "Away from it all". I stayed with 2 other friends, that are both very active and for the first time in my life, I saw them both relax...completely. The hammocks are comfy and the layout of the house is very convenient. There is a TV there, but we never once turned it on, as the view from the pool, beach, patio and basically everywhere were better than anything that could have been on the TV. We brought a couple of games with us, and just enjoyed the sounds of nature. Yes, there are bats but seriously...you are in nature and that is what is suppose to happen!! There is a town nearby called El Tunco, which had sufficient nightlife and a low key vibe, filled with mostly surfers. Cute little town. Marta helped us with all of the excursions that we wanted and made sure everything was set up as well as recommending some very excellent restaurants, points to watch the sunset and helped with our rental car and transportation from the airport (our group arrived at different times). The excursion were from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours away and were worth the trip. El Salvador is a beautiful country that has not been taken over by tourism (yet) and that is part of the reason that I enjoyed it so much. The pool at the house was perfect, not too warm but not freezing. We had no problems with the "chemicals" previously mentioned and spent the majority of our time there. They had also arranged for a wonderful woman Silva, to come to give us massages while we were there. There is no doubt that I would visit again. Oh, and the flowers and landscape is beautiful, along the hummingbirds and butterflies that they attract. Our driver Israel and the staff, Gilma and Hernan were very friendly and wonderful. I have been all over CA and I think hiring a driver is well worth it, there is way too much too see to keep your eyes on the road. Despite it being rainy season, the storms were as amazing as the sunshine...they didn't last long, but the lightning was awesome to see. There is also the pier in nearby La Libertad, that you can buy fresh catches, we took advantage of this. (cooking pans etc...were in fine shape and we had to problem with them). Well done Casa Los Arcos on a trip we will never forget! If you are looking for a resort, this is not the place for you, relaxation and quiet, this is the place to be. We cannot wait to come back!!
