Very nice location and finishes

4 of 5
The great - the Condo has beautiful finishing's. They really remodeled it nicely, the kitchen is incredible with pretty much everything you would need to get by. The TV is huge with a high level DirecTV package (NFL package as an example). The views are unbeatable, pretty much a view from every room of every part of the peninsula. The location is right in the middle of Salinas so very easy to walk either way for entertainment or a stroll on the beach. Wi-Fi available in the condo is probably as fast as you can get in Salinas - very solid speed and reliable. The building is secure and the security attendants are great - they even washed our car for us one day! Jaime is very helpful and speaks perfect English. The not so perfect - the location is very central and we were there on a holiday weekend...the windows are too thin to protect you from the massive amounts of noise that is Salinas on a weekend (probably any normal weekend as well). There is soccer being played at the yacht club until midnight on the weekend with the noise coming straight to the unit. Then the back side where the master is, is subject to the endless car alarms chirping and police spinning their siren to let the police house know across the street they were checking in. It became much much better during the week when everyone left town - but you still get the occasional car alarm that no one will shut off all night long. Nothing much to do about this down side of the location other than not stay over a weekend and bring some ear plugs. The one thing the owners could do something about - there was clearly some very heavy smoking going on in the condo for quite some time. At least one room there was no possibility to get the smell out as it was extremely bad - probably needs new paint at the very least to try to shake the smell - most likely would take replacing all the furnishings in that bedroom. One last thing that could be improved pretty easily - we were only given one key...so if for some reason we wanted to split up we were stuck with having to coordinate schedules. Overall - a very nice place. Be prepared for noise on a weekend and to either not use the super smoky bedroom (or hopefully they try to shake the scent).

Very nice

5 of 5
This is a building designed as a hotel that is rented out as a villa. The good: View is outstanding, property is great for a quiet time in San Lorenzo (small town on the coast). The beach is almost entirely your own. There is a turtle reserve on the beach so chance to see turtles hatching/laying eggs. The local staff were very helpful (be aware they only speak Spanish). There is a great restaurant not too far down the street in town with quite reasonable prices and good food. Some fun local activities to do - hike to the light house, hike through the Monkey reserve. The bedroom furniture is quite functional and the beds comfortable. AC in all rooms although you won't likely need it (at least not on very high if you do). Good and bad is the location - it's fantastic to be more isolated from the hustle of the big cities but you really need a car to get around. Closest real grocery shopping is a 30-40 minute drive to Manta. The not as good: Very nice pool although a bit cold, they can heat one section of the pool to make it reasonable for a 'warm tub' at request. But our daughter kept cutting her toes on probably a broken tile that we couldn't find in that tub. The furnishings downstairs could use some updating but are functional. The cooking supplies could use updating in the kitchen - which is a very nice professional stove so long as you get past having to use the lighter to start it without burning your eyebrows. Only disappointing things - they have fantastic new flat screens in every room, however they have only paid for one satellite receiver so if you want to watch something you have to go downstairs and change the channel there and then every tv in the house gets that show. Wireless is available but it is a shared Wi-Fi from a cell phone. So you are getting the spotty 2G service that exists in San Lorenzo...don't expect much more then email if that from the internet available. Overall - a really enjoyable place to stay. Could be better of course with some small investments but we thought the location was outstanding!

Lovely place, awesome views

5 of 5
Stayed in this place with a large group, and it was perfect. Plenty of space, clean, very attentive hosts. The view over the city is incredible. If you're looking to stay a bit out of the hustle and bustle of the city, this is a great place. It's quiet, and is inside a gated community so it's very secure. It's only about a $4 cab ride from the historical city center, and close to two different malls for groceries or any other shopping.
