The property is lovely, right on the beach

4 of 5
Really lovely house, right on the beach, secluded location, 3 other houses on the property, the gardens all around the house are well maintained, the pool and pool area are also well maintained - pool chlorine level was low - I prefer a saline pool so was wary of a chlorine pool and had no problem swimming in this pool , each bedroom with it's own bath, nice living room area and great kitchen. At night the sound of the surf is right there, the rain on the roof - if it rains - is magical. If you are looking for a totally secluded get away to write a book, decompress, reconnect with the missed sleep/a book you want to read/sun/sand/surf, this was a lovely getaway for us. The water is a lovely blue/light green and bathtub warm. The body surfing was great. If you plan to come here staying at the pool on the property is the best way to go; there are not beach chairs if you want to stay at the beach all day. If you want to go away from the house and go to a restaurant or coffee shop this is not that place, but you can rent boats and guides to take you to these places. We opted to have a chef prepare local cuisine, and it is well worth it, while we were there the locals who fish from the beach area/surrounding waters showed us a lobster and inquired if we wanted to purchase it, not being spanish speakers I said "Pasquala" our chef's name, and the following evening that lobster was on the BBQ for us. The internet is intermittent, so be prepared to not stress over it. There are 2 international airports, we were advised to come into Santa Domingo - its a 3 + hour drive to the house. The roads in DR are great. The final driveway down to the house is not paved so is a 20 minute drive. Renting a car worked just fine, we did a combination of renting a car for some of us and taking the car transport recommended by the owner for others ($210 1 way for up to 12 passengers) The owner, Vincent, is very responsive. The staff at the house are interested in making sure your stay is as you would expect, they do not speak any other language than Spanish, so we did spend sometime with Google translate. Enjoy this lovely slice of paradise

Rent it; you won't be sorry!

The house: beautifully decorated and spacious. Looks just like the pictures. Each room was perfect. All had air-con except the master bedroom but we slept just fine without it. It was fully equipped. They even provided beach towels. Maria was our house keeper/cook and she was great. Her and her sister cooked 3 different dinners and each one was better than the last. They were both so friendly! Don't forget to ask for gelato on the FIRST night....we didn't find out about it until our last night. If we had known we would have been getting that ALL THE TIME....it's so good. She'll get all of the stuff to make the meal so you don't have to worry about shopping for dinner. She'll even make fresh pineapple or passion fruit juice Yocasty was great. She kept in touch, met up with us to see how the vacation was going and to make sure we had everything we needed. I'd definitely recommend this house. More details: The house is a townhouse. This was fine for us; the other place was not in use for most of our stay. When it did have guests at the end of our stay, it turned out to be great because they had a daughter the same age as ours and they became fast friends. The house sits on the water but it's not a beach. It's a rocky shore (looks like lava rocks). The view is amazing. The lawn is nicely manicured and we spent tons of time drinking coffee (or beer/wine) down by the water on the wooden benches. The stars at night are amazing as well. La Playita beach is a short walk from the house, very easy. It took us less than 5 minutes to walk there with our 5 year old. The beach is awesome. We drove over to Playa Rincon on our first day because that's the beach everyone talks about ( roughly 40 minute drive from the house). It was beautiful. The second day we decided to check out La Playita....and we never left. That is definitely our beach of choice. The water is very shallow for quite a ways out which is great if you have kids. The views are breathtaking. The little red beach shack had the best fried fish and pina coladas....YUMMMM!!! There was plenty of shade. And it was practically empty. The only thing that was a disappointment was the snorkeling. There's only a small amount of coral and not very many fish/sea creatures, but it was still fun to look around. It's definitely a great place to stay for any type of situation; super family friendly.

What a great place to relax with friends & family!

Villa Soraya was much nicer than we anticipated as the website pictures didn't do it justice. From the moment we began the rental process until we left, Yocasty and Yamiris were extremely helpful. Our emails were answered promptly, we were treated kindly and professionally, we were helped to get familiar with the town, and then helped to get settled in. Although we didn't need much during our stay, they made themselves available to help us out. The houses were very clean and comfortable, with everything we needed to feel at home. The housekeeper was friendly, helpful, and thorough – a real pleasure to have during our stay. The view from the house is spectacular; the surroundings so beautiful and peaceful. Eating outside on the patio was a treat, whether enjoying the gorgeous gardens and flowers during the day or gazing at the starry heavens at night. We didn't realize that there was no TV when renting the property, but didn't miss it at all. Internet service was a bit spotty at times but that was OK, too. We were there to relax and relax we did! There is so much to do in the area. We spent an afternoon at the beach nearest the house, went on a whale watch (http://www.toursamanawithterry.com), went to Playita Beach, made the trip to Boca del Diablo (not easy to find but worth the trip), and traveled to Rincon Beach twice (since it was so beautiful and so few people there). Enjoyed 2 delicious meals at Rincon Beach (fresh grilled fish w/ Dominican rice & beans) at the little restaurant by the river, to the left when you get to Rincon Beach. Also enjoyed several typical meals from "Restaurante del Abuelo" in Las Galeras. Prices so reasonable and food so good that it didn't pay to cook! The supermarket in Las Galeras is small but had what we needed. We were glad we rented a vehicle since the property is about 3 km from town. The road is quite rough and steep at the end, so a little car might have some trouble. Having our own transportation gave us the freedom we wanted to explore as we wished. The people in the area were so friendly and helpful that we never felt lost or nervous. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and hope to come back again soon. Thanks to everyone who helped us have one of the best vacations ever.
