Paradise by the Playa!

5 of 5
We just got back from a fantastic stay at Villa Leone and the trip was amazing. There were 8 adults and two toddlers and there was plenty to do for everyone. We are still tanned, happy and already longing to go back. The house itself is nice, clean and spacious. We had all the comforts of home including a good kitchen, nice bathrooms and good wifi. The staff was great and very attentive. The home is great for adults but also kid friendly. There is a gated back patio preventing small children from wandering into the pool area or onto the beach. This was key for us to be able to relax. The bedrooms are a good size and the beds are all comfortable. The two master suites on the second floor have great views and are really nice. The master suite on the third floor has that and more... a gazeebo with panoramic views. Amazing! The house opens right up to the beach which was never crowded or busy. The surf is high at this part of the coast and there is a nearly constant breeze. This means we never got too hot out in the sun. The wind dies down in the evenings which makes eating outside very pleasurable. The nearby town of Cabarete, 5 mins drive away from the house, offers fantastic dining and shopping. There is also a decent supermarket that has most everything you want or need. However if you really want to go to grocery store that has everything we are used to finding at home then a simple 10-15 min drive west will take you to a SuperPola that is like the equivalent of Whole Foods in the DR. Definitely hire the chef the villa offers. Catalino made us great food using local ingredients and local recipes as well. We were so pleased! The owner, Frank, was very quick to respond to any questions and his recommendations were great. He is organized and professional. Close to the airport, close to town and a reasonable drive to other attractions. THIS is the place you want to stay. The Marcus family vacation was a hit. Thanks Frank!

Great vacation

5 of 5
Had a really good vacation with me and my friends. Home owners are incredibly attentive with responding to emails at any time of the day or night. Staff was very nice and pleasant. Food costs are not cheap about the same price as shopping for food in the United states. Food that was cooked was good and impressed me and my friends. Felt very safe because the community of villas is a bit hidden on this hill over looking the beach, and we had a security guard at night. The walk to the beach is about 5-10 minutes and it is pretty steep. We rented out scooters which was really fun and went up and down with ease. Pool water could of been warmer that would of been excellent. If your looking for villas with 5 or more bedrooms this area is probably best according to one of the cab drivers, apparently there aren't many villas near the beach with that many bedrooms. Cab rides are a bit expensive, if you plan on visiting Sousa would recommend a rental, otherwise make sure you bargain with everybody since you probably can get a better price when your down there. Overall I would recommend this villa and it is probably the best vacation me and my friends have ever been on, we had a blast.

Fantastic house and amazing vacation!!

5 of 5
I love this property. We have been taking an annual trip to the DR as a group for 8 years, we have stayed at a total of 5 different villas during our trips. This is by far the best villa yet. One thing about the DR is the power goes off regularly, because the government shuts it off. This villa has a huge generator that kicks on after a couple of minutes which is such a bonus here. Plus the pool is huge, it is the biggest one we have seen at any of the rental villas. There are many areas to lounge and relax and enjoy yourself. The big tikki hut has couches and tables and a hammock, oh and a billiards table which is always fun. There is an outdoor bed by the pool that is has a nice little roof over it. The third floor is completely roofed and it gets a fantastic ocean breeze. One thing that makes this villa amazing is the staff. There are 5 of them and they are so sweet, welcoming and helpful. I felt like royality at this villa. The are there everyday and clean the place constantly. We hired the chef Nidia for our stay and I highly recommed anyone staying here to hire her. I read some of the other reviews and I have to say that while the hot tub is no longer hot!! For the rate they charge I wouldn't expect it to be hot. Very few villas on this island have hot tubs, and the villas in the past that we looked at renting with tubs, started at $1000 a night. Another point that is wonderful about this villa is they have beach towels, bath towels, nice sheets, pillows and comforters. The kitchen has everything you could need, there is a huge beer cooler at the bar. Honestly I just can't say enough about how pleased we were.
