Gorgeous Property. Amazing for Groups. Incredible

5 of 5
First off Gary, the owner of the beautiful Cap Cana property, was very easy to connect with and made the process of arranging a stay for 17 people completely seamless including payment/invoicing. Not only is the property situated in a great area that is close to the airport but the staff is really first-class. From Alejandro helping arrange groceries and excellent meals to Miguel & Luz being the sweetest in making sure everyone was well taken care of. The communal area allowed for plenty of space for different areas to hang while the dining room more than accommodated our group. I highly suggest to hire the chef. He was unreal and very much catered to all dietary restrictions while doing it all with a smile and fun tunes. Thank you again Gary! I look forward to visiting your home again as one of the best experiences in my 12+ VRBO stays around the world.

Soto Grande - Cap Cana, January 2015

4 of 5
We had a great trip to Cap Cana, DR. That said, here are a few notes to help future renters: Payment: you wire funds to a bank in the DR. The details will be provided via email by Mr. Asael Galindo. It seems cryptic but it wasn't a problem. Arrival: someone will meet you at the airport to show you the way to Soto Grande. Heide was our guide and she did a great job. She'll give you a key and the layout of the area. Transportation: we rented a car at the airport. Book ahead (we did for $25 day) since the walk up rate is crazy ($100 day). Total for 4 days was about $250 (insurance, taxes, fees) but well worth the freedom. I'd recommend the insurance since the roads (pot holes and speed bumps) could easily damage any car. Also, make sure you have a map. We used Google Maps on my I-pad (I-pad has cellular but no data plan and could find current location) to navigate. Food: the Soto Grande restaurant and most local places are part of all inclusive plans. It was a bit of a trial figuring out how to pay--we never really did--at those restaurants. The food at Juanillo Beach was pricey but very, very good--especially for a beach restaurant. We went to Il Cappuchino at the Cap Cana Marina, the Jelly Fish in Bavaro, and another just next to the Jelly Fish (had Red in the name) for our dinners. It was about $20-30 per person. Grocery: the Super Mercado near the airport is your best bet. I'd recommend a quick trip on the way to Soto Grande if your guide has time. Gas: you have to go north towards Bavaro for a gas station. We filled up on the way back from our last dinner. Wifi: there is access all over the resort (Al Sol) but we couldn't get the condo's router password from Heidi (one of the reason for the star reduction). Condo: the AC didn't work correctly in the smaller bedroom. That room shares with the adjoining condo and the unit was messed up. The outside pool was in poor shape as well. The sliding glass doors were somewhat difficult. Last, the fridge/freezer is on it's last legs. The freezer got warm anytime we put anything in it--same for the fridge. Excursions: we did a snorkel tour ($90 booze cruise with a few fish) and zip-lining (also $90 but great views and experience). Next time we'd likely drive to a few other areas and bring swim goggles to see fish from swimming off the beach.

Exceptional

Everything was perfect from the transportation to and from the airport to the maid service & beyond. Everyone was very pleasant & helpful. Our Chef Oskar was exceptional. I would recommend him to anyone going to the DR.
