excellent

We rented Don and Lynette’s condo (G-405) between 14 Feb and 15 March 2015, sharing the experience with both friends and family over the duration of our stay. This was also our first experience away from the annual resort visits. The apartment and complex itself is very clean, well-kept and secure and although we found the loft area for visitors a bit tight for two adults, the availability of the double loungers on the balcony was great and the view was fantastic. The unit has screens on all doors and windows (some do not) and the internet within the unit worked great. Water delivery to the apartment was seamless as was drop off and pick up of the laundry through the complex services. Linda and Vincent were always available to address any and all concerns within their control and the office at Stanza Mare complex were courteous and responsive to our queries. Literally steps from the beach, we found it very tranquil and relaxing compared to resort areas on either side of Stanza Mare and although the excursion departure point across the beach is relatively busy it did not take away from our enjoyment and relaxing visits on the beach. Early morning visits to the beach to secure loungers was a bit inconvenient, however we always managed to attain two to four beach chairs daily. This concern was being addressed the last week of our stay with multiple palapas being built to accommodate additional chairs for Stanza Mare guests. There area is safe and within walking distance to local stores and restaurants where you can attain all daily requirements including spirits. We were quite comfortable accessing the bus to the larger malls such a Palma Real ……….. where your shopping selections are greater. We would not recommend taking the bus if you plan on doing a lot of shopping as they are relatively small; however cabs are readily available at either mall for the return trip for a reasonable price. As mentioned above this was our first holiday from the resorts with Don and Linda’s condo at Stanza Mare providing for a great experience. It is definitely one of the best located and maintained within the complex and we highly recommend it to any and all who wish to experience a holiday away from the resorts. Thanks for the experience Don and Lynette, Linda and Vincent. Sincerely Darrell and Yvonne

Relaxing in paradise

5 of 5
We were so happy to stay at the condo for 5 nights and could easily have stayed much longer. Gregory kindly guided us to the place and showed us all the facilities. The view of the ocean and beach from the terrace was even better than showed on the pictures. Friendly staff were cleaning the grounds at all times and guarding the property. Inside all facilities were provided, lots of fluffy towels and extra bedding and even 25 litres of drinking water. We felt like kings because our very nice stretch of beach was spacious with enough sunbeds, whereas the many people at the neighbouring hotels were crammed into their parts of the beach. Leaving the beach, there was a shower to get the salt and sand off. Before arriving we had stocked up on all food at a couple of supermarkets further south and enjoyed making all our own food. We had a rented car at the time to do this, but returned it after arrival. As shops are far away a car is needed to stock up on food, but it can be done by taxi too. Every morning we walked for hours on the beach and went swimming. After lunch we enjoyed reading on the sunbeds on the beach and watching life go by. It is possible to pay for the buffet or the pool at the neighbouring hotel, but we did not need this. When we left, Gregory kindly took us to our next place. We would be happy to come back and also to recommend this condo to friends and family. We have travelled to 125 countries around the world, so we know what good service and a wonderful location is all about. Anna and Per from Aalborg, Denmark

Great vacation

5 of 5
We spent February at the Fishing Lodge and had a great experience. First, the property looked exactly like the pictures on the website. Our fourth floor condo marina was beautiful and well-appointed with travertine tiles, a full kitchen and a washer and dryer, a plus when staying a month. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. From our balcony we had a view of the marina and could watch as the boats and yachts came in and out. It is a short walk to Threel pools or the beach. The Alsol beach is not the best, but we could get to either API beach or Juanillo Beach with a short drive and they were beautiful and large. The owner Ricardo, from whom we rented the unit, was extremely receptive to our needs. We emailed him about a couple of issues and they were resolved quickly. A new remote was delivered when the old one got quirky and a light over the stove replaced promptly… not big deals but he was on them immediately. Renting a car is highly recommended since there are many interesting places to explore within a 15 to 20 minute drive. With some searching, we found one @ Europecar rental for $20 per day with tax. The collision insurance was covered with a benefit of our Visa card. (You must bring a letter of confirmation from the card company) This saved $10 per day. Punta Cana has few private cars on the roads and there is little risk of accidents. PC has only two traffic lights so I opted out of liability insurance. We opted against the all-inclusive option and did a pay as you go. By leaving our credit card at the desk we could charge meals in any of the resort’s restaurants and local sister hotels.. We especially enjoyed the seafood at the resort beach. We did a lot of cooking in our condo, which we enjoyed doing. The local super market, National, is well stocked with great food, meats, spices, liquor and wine. One might consider bringing any specialty luxury type foods because most likely you will not find it in Punta Cana. Most things end about 10-10:30 in all of Punta Cana so if you want to relax, this is the place. There are though several clubs that open @ 11p and Ricardo can point you in that direction. We liked the all the restaurants in the Punta Cana Village (outside of the resort next to the grocery store. Outstanding and very affordable Chinese, Mexican, Spanish, Italian and a great pizza take out. Credit cards are accepted universally. We would recommend this vacation condo and location to all our friends.
