Recent Dominican Republic North Coast Reviews

This was a great property in a wonderful setting

4 of 5
We offer the following review in order to be fair and provide an accurate assessment of this experience. First of all, the house and grounds was everything it was described to be in the way of comfort, beauty, location, privacy and security. Sonia, the housekeeper was lovely and very accommodating. She will run errands if needed and cook for you if requested at night. She is a wonderful cook - you will love her meals. This is not part of her regular responsibilities so get an idea from the owner as to what is customary based on the number of times she does this for you. Be advised though to not leave any foods out which aren't sealed since, as with most warm climate locations, there will be an issue with bugs being attracted to them. Secondly, also be advised that there is a resident dog which will be there during your stay along with a neighboring dog as well. “Blackie” and “Carlito” were very friendly and didn't pose a problem for us but we felt it should be known in case anyone has an issue with dogs such as allergies, etc. Next, as far as the town of La Terranes, there are many good restaurants to eat in and water sport shops to rent paddleboards, etc. but little else to do in the way of shopping and walking around especially at night outside of the restaurant strip. Lastly, as far as excursions, we recommend the trip to El Limon to go to the waterfall. It was quite an experience for our family. We learned and saw a lot about the area from the guides who lead the horses. Go early before it gets hot and crowded. Make sure to gain agreement beforehand as to the prices of the trip itself since it varies a lot. The guides will ask repeatedly for tips. Be prepared to negotiate often. If you are looking go fishing we would recommend a regular charter company to hire. The fishing trip that Marco offered wasn’t what we expected in the way of accommodations, participation and price. It was a very small open boat about 12 feet long in which we rode in and watched as they fished. It was also quite expensive for what was given. In closing, we really enjoyed what this vacation had to offer with few exceptions. We travel extensively as a family and know that you have to expect that everything can’t be perfect when visiting areas you aren't familiar. We definitely feel this vacation was enjoyable, relaxing and educational. Our children were exposed to a world they can learn from and make them appreciate other cultures as well. Thanks, Cyrus Joe & Cheryl

Spoiled rotten for 5 days!

5 of 5
My three friends and I planned on taking a "Man-cation" with the hopes of living it up and being treated like kings for 5 days. We came to the right place. The house is beautiful with the most stunning views of the mountains and ocean. Cristina spoiled us rotten with delicious breakfast every morning and lunch and dinner at our request. She came with us shopping and took over from there. The house was cleaned daily, laundry done, and we felt right at home. The rooms were very comfortable, the a/c worked in all the rooms, and we had all the towels and amenities we could ask for. Dilenia, the owner was extremely responsive before and after the trip. Some thoughts: Although the beach and dinning is a short 10 minute walk down the mountain, the mountain is steep. Real steep. My friend weighs 300 pounds. Going back up the mountain on foot, not so good if you're not in top shape. We rented a car and got to visit a few beaches like Sosua and Cabarete. Driving in the DR is like a grand theft auto video game and not for the faint of heart but we are glad we rented a car and toured the area. Taxis are expensive for tourists so just a heads up. Pool was clean and delicious but outdoor jacuzzi is not heated. Plenty of places to eat el fresco and we didn't experience any bug bites or mosquitos at or near the house! We did one tour of the waterfalls. It was really awesome if a) you don't mind trying to be sold stuff along the way (cigars, sculptures, coffee) b) you are in great shape. The actual waterfalls were very challenging and only two of the four in the party could participate. The locals depend on tourism so they do their best to earn your money but they aren't pushy and everyone was so friendly. Back to the house. We spent half the time traveling and touring around and the other half at the house. Cristina made us feel like royalty in a mansion and we wouldn't have traded it for any all-inclusive resort...this was so much better!

“Great destination, perfect place for anyone!”

5 of 5
I have stayed at this property several times and I am thoroughly pleased each time. The community is gated, well maintained and secured 24 hours a day. Once you drive into the community you have a sense of safety and comfort. The owner of the house (Tracey) if a great guy, he is extremely attentive to any needs and ensures that all guests have a great experience. The property has up to date amenities, appliances, WIFI, a large selection of HD movies and phone service that allows you to call back home to the USA. The house sits on a hill that you can see the beach/ocean from the front of the house and if you open the front doors as well as the back doors there is an incredible breeze that blows through the house. There is a separate pool house that has a large TV with gaming systems that my son really enjoyed. The master suite is huge, and also has a huge TV in it so you can watch movies on the DVD player while lying in bed or watch cable. The master suite has a glass indoor shower or an outdoor private shower which is wonderful for morning showers in the sun or late night showers under the stars. The staff keep the house cleaned each day, along with laundry service if you wish. The pool is cleaned each morning just after breakfast so you can go for a dip if you like. I would recommend this property to anyone, families, adult couples or if you just want to get away. Great place to stay, I definitely will continue to stay at this property.
