Luxury in Casa de Campo

5 of 5
Our group of eight flew into Punta Cana from the Midwest as the flights were much cheaper. Our villa owner was in contact with us from the day of our booking. He made arrangements for our worry free transportation from the airport to Casa de Campo (a 30 minute drive). When renting this villa, we were guest of the owner rather than the Hotel/Resort. He arranged our two golf carts for transportation around the resort, and the two golf rounds we played. The Villa was beautifully decorated, clean and spacious. Three of our four couples enjoyed spacious bedrooms with two queen sized beds and small but clean and well equipped bathrooms. One lucky couple had the dreamy master suite with a king bed, hot tub, and large bathroom. The pool, indoor and outdoor living spaces were fabulous. A sitting area around the pool was where we enjoyed morning coffee and lunch served by our amazing Sandra. There are plenty of areas to have sun or shade. A man came around daily to clean the pool and work around the lawn. The place is very well kept, the hot tub temperature varied, sometimes warm and often cool. The warm and friendly Sandra spoiled us. She would serve coffee for us wherever we chose to lounge in the morning. She was a very good cook and provided not only traditional dishes, but managed to share a few of the local Dominican dishes for breakfast and lunch. One evening with the help of an assistant, she fixed a local fresh fish catch of the day that Sandra had purchased. She cleaned our rooms and the Villa every morning and did our laundry as well. One thing we should have done for her is communicate a little better when we would be going out so she could arrange her day accordingly. Casa de Campo Resort has about anything you would need available to you. We shopped at the grocer on the Resort for some items, but made two or three trips into La Romana to a larger market which could provide anything from household items to food and liquor. Sandra went with us to the market on one occasion and by herself on the last day when she cooked our evening meal. Two golf carts (provided by the Hotel) worked well for our group of four couples. The Casa Resort if over 7,000 acres so plan to travel to the beach, golf courses, Altos de Chavon, Marina and restaurants via car or golf cart from the centrally located villa. The restaurants range from local fair to the amazing La Cirque. A couple of our favorites were La Casita at the Marina and La Piazz

Better than the pictures!!

5 of 5
Where do I start? My family, including a 12-year-old girl and 87-year-old grandmother, arrived after midnight on a Saturday, and Alfonso and the housekeeper, Angela, met us to give us a tour despite the late hour. The villa is breathtaking at night and was like stepping into paradise after a long trip! That set the tone for the rest of the week, which was perfect. The pictures of the villa do not really convey how big and beautiful it is. It was truly like having our own private resort. All three bedrooms are enormous and have their own, enormous bathrooms with enormous walk-in showers. Everything is made of stone, so it's like being in a castle. The bedrooms connect to the most beautiful covered outdoor living area I've ever seen - plush sofas everywhere, with seating for probably 50. On the other side of the outdoor living area is the kitchen and Angela's space. The kitchen is very nice, but we didn't use it much because Angela was so awesome (see below). There is another, separate building that's a large game and TV room.. The grounds are amazing - huge beautiful spotless pool, private tennis court (with lights!), half basketball court, still more lounge seating, and stunning landscaping. Angela was the most gracious housekeeper. Not only did she take care of the bedrooms but she cooked meals for us as well (we bought the food). She was available to answer any questions and even accompanied me to the grocery store the first time when I couldn't find it on my own. Alfonso was a terrific host. He answered all our questions and was extremely responsive leading up to the trip. After meeting us the first night, he checked in to make sure we were settled, and arranged for a tour operator to come to the house and book activities for us. I can't think of anything more a host could possibly do! The house is very easy to find. It's located next to Manati Park, just off the primary north-south highway north of Punta Cana (Boulevard Turisitico del Este). The villa is inside a small gated community next to an industrial area, so you hear some construction sounds during the day at times, but it was in no way a problem. There are tons of things to do nearby, and driving around was easy. Thank you Alfonso and Angela!
