A Wonderful Escape From the Cold

5 of 5
Our party of 3 adults stayed the week of January 17-24. Alex was magnificent...our flight was 45 minutes late getting in and he waited for us to arrive, even though he had another pick up to do. He dropped one of us off at the Pola grocery store and took the other 2 adults to the condo. Beware, everything is in Spanish in this store and very few employees speak English. Liz was wonderful in greeting the 2 adults and told them the washing machine was broke and hoping the part would arrive within the next few days and when it didn't, she offered to pick up all our dirty laundry, wash/dry and return them the same day! What service for her to offer to do this for us. The condo has everything one needs to enjoy their stay. We enjoyed grilling out and even called Liz to help us in lighting the grill...the turn on cap was on very tight! We ate at the Jellyfish Restaurant one evening and visited there 2 other afternoons for Coco Logo cocktails...delicious! This was our second visit to the Playa Turquesa Ocean Club community and we love the location and all the amenities. This area is very safe day and night. Bam Bam grocery store, back entrance, is within the parking lot and offers a small quantity of everything you need, if you run low on anything. Our only complaints, and not due to the manager or owners, are; we were limited in our use of the rooftop patio due to terrible sewer odor, which we noticed was being worked on during our stay. My other complaint was the housekeeping was not up to par. Our bathroom shower was slimy and area rugs dirty. Dust everywhere. I may be more critical than others, because I am a clean freak, but my companions had the same feeling. The staff and guards are friendly and more than willing to help you. This community has everything for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

A perfect place for rest and relaxation!

5 of 5
My husband and I came to Punta Cana for a writing and reflexion retreat recently. We left refreshed, relaxed and joyous. We found every point of contact with Patrick, our landlord, to be excellent.Ricardo his property manager did a great job of setting up our transfers to and from the airport. The photos are accurate. Everything is pristine and lovely. One felt completely safe and well-attended at all times. The view from the living room of the boats in the Marina is great. What we loved most was the big Kokomos pool right out our front door. It was like having a private oasis the entire week. The furniture is really comfortable. The bed had great bedding. This is a property in transition. Part of it was privately owned condos and part of it was an all-inclusive resort. We opted out of the all inclusive $85 per person per day meal plan. If we were heavier drinkers and eaters or interested in only eating the restaurants included in the all-inclusive it would have been a good deal. But being outside the plan left us more opportunities to visit any of the properties within the Cap Cana property. The resort was beautiful and underpopulated, which was both good and a bit disconcerting. It’s a completely manufactured environment and many of the store fronts and shops that you see in the photos are empty. Part of the property is still under construction so the private beach was closed until the day we left. We frequently taxied for $3 to the other resorts/properties/beaches within the 385,000 acre resort complex. We loved Juanillo Beach except it had some uneven service and inconsistent pricing. We loved the Sanctuary at Punta Cana. We saw little of Punta Cana itself because it was $40 each way by taxi anywhere outside the $3 enclosed resort zone. This worked great for the trip we were taking, but if we had come to tour the area more we would recommend renting a car. We didn’t avail ourselves of any of the excursions except the free ride to the mall—which was the oddest mall we’d ever been to anywhere. Some caveats for regular VRBO travelers who might expect it to be less “resort apartment” and more “home.” It doesn’t have a cooktop or grill, so although many reviewers suggested stopping at the grocery store, we found that to be a waste of money and ended up giving away most of our groceries because the kitchen wasn’t really a “cooking” kitchen, it was much more of a reheat/leftover kitchen.

An incredible holiday on the beach

5 of 5
The photos of the property are 100% accurate, and the view of the beach from the balcony has to be seen to be believed. Isaac met us at the property upon our arrival, and helped us get settled in. Everything works, including the air conditioning. The refrigerator ice and water are connected to a bottled water supply, so we had no concerns about using them. The apartment was extremely clean, and well stocked with beach towels, dishes, etc. There is wifi in the room, but it is slow - probably more the service in general than a specific problem with the apartment. It is fine for email and basic web browsing though. There are two extremely large pools (great for swimming laps, for those who are so inclined), neither of which were ever crowded, and plenty of padded lounge chairs, both at the pool and on the beach. Most importantly, security at the resort was exceptional. Obviously, "use common sense" applies everywhere, but were were never worried about our beach bag getting stolen, or about letting the kids play at the pool or on the beach. The entrance to the resort is manned 24/7. There are several restaurants and mini-markets nearby, but no large supermarket. Overall, it was a great experience - great apartment - great resort. Raul and Isac were responsive and helpful. I recommend the property highly.
