Beautiful bayfront cottage

4 of 5
We absolutely loved our vacation week here this summer. The cottage has a lot more space than I thought, and easily accommodated guests staying over. Our 1-year old slept in a pack-and-play, which we were able to fit easily into the master bedroom. The upstairs area is huge with different sleep areas and play spaces for kids. The layout in general is great. Wifi works great and we plugged in our iPods and had music going the whole time. Didn't turn the TV on once (which is pretty amazing for us) but it looked decent. It's not an upscale house, but comfortable. We informed the owner upon arrival the bottom shelf and drawer of the fridge was broken, rendering about a third of the fridge unusable. He replied the next day saying there was nothing he could do about it. Also no wine glasses, which is strange. The other issue I hope can be addressed is the outdoor shower has no privacy. One of the best features of a beach house is showering off before coming into the house. A simple fence or privacy wall to block the view of the big houses right across the street would make it a proper shower, and add to the house's charm. We had to have the septic tank emptied during our stay. This was a breeze and the owner's instructions were clear and they came right out to empty it. Prime Hook Refuge is certainly worth exploring and the doughnuts on the weekends at the corner store are a must. Broadkill Beach is a beautiful and quiet oasis. We will be back!

Quiet / Secluded - but close to all

5 of 5
I loved this location. We had 2 young kids and needed a quiet area. Other than the occasional garbage truck picking up trash (which you seemingly cant avoid with little kids), it was perfect. The front porch was great, the kitchen area also good and big. Loved that they have a shed full of helpful stuff too. Great for taking walks in the neighborhood with the kids on the bay side. Only a few minutes across to the beach and with the owner's beach pass, you can park as close as 10 seconds from the beach or 3-4 minutes (walking) from the boardwalk. Loved that no matter how busy it was in the area, this side was quiet and never busy. Friendly people and quiet quiet quiet! Access to the highway was great too - easy jump on and off. Bedrooms were bedrooms and bathrooms were fine. Outdoor shower and side entrance were helpful too.

Charming beach cottage

5 of 5
We stayed in this lovely, renovated beach cottage for just a couple nights in October. The place is very cozy, renovated very nicely. It would be a great home base for a family with a few kids, but not too many kids as there is not very much space in the common areas. For us, four adults, it was perfect. The owner was kind and very responsive to my communications before and during our stay. I can imagine that during the warm, summer months, it would be ideal as it is a 5 minute walk from the beach and from the main drag. The porch is nice too, for hanging out when you want some shade. The only minor issue we had was with the shower which is cramped. Overall, it was a lovely place and we would likely stay there again. Excellent deal in October for a very clean, charming bungalow within short walking distance of beach and shops.
