We are elated we chose Maia’s beautiful apartment during our 2-week stay. We wanted both the comfort of a spacious flat and a sense of the pampering one might find at the finest hotel. This was a perfect choice.
The apt. more than exceeded our expectations which, truth be told, are quite high; and the pictures barely do it justice. The kitchen is well-stocked, the living area very comfortable, and the bed was heavenly—not too soft. The bathroom is huge, sleek, and modern; the owner has clearly neglected no detail and, as other reviewers have noted, the place was immaculate. Furnishings throughout were tasteful and functional, lots of room for our belongings, multiple books on Prague, maps, etc. There’s a small market at the end of the block for essentials and bigger stores like Albert are about 10 minutes away, Tesco, 15-20. AND, on 1-2 scorchers, Maia’s place has A/C units that are quiet and effective.
Most important: location, location, location. It’s only a short walk to the river in one direction and to tourist madness in the other. There’s a quiet residential feel. Sometimes, patrons at a nearby bar got a bit nuts very late at night and at 6-7 AM when they left (!!!): but, with the windows closed, you don’t hear a thing. Nothing dangerous, btw, just people having fun.
Maia is a font of information and an incredibly responsive guide and landlord who was always available on email. Here is why you can rent with confidence: Sometimes things happen that are beyond the owner’s or manager’s control. It turned out that some work had been done in the bldg. shortly before our arrival about which owners had not been informed. We telephoned Maia’s property manager immediately and we had hot water WITHIN 90 MINUTES of our reporting it. That’s right. You heard me: within 90 minutes! Extraordinary.
One last tip: when Maia recommends a restaurant or an activity, do it! We took several of her restaurant recommendations and were impressed every time. In particular, we would likely not have gravitated toward Italian food in the Czech Republic but we had 2 wonderful meals at Kogo and Café Impérial. Otherwise, we discovered nearby Pot-au-Feu, probably our best meal of all.
Thank you, Maia, for making such a wonderful apt. available on VRBO. We thought about keeping it a secret but it deserves all the good P/R it can get. I’m not sure our travels will take us back here—I hope so—but, if they do, we would stay here again in a heartbeat.
