If you are coming to Curacao to scuba dive here are a couple tips:
The house has beach access to the ocean, but at the waters' edge it is very rocky and treacherous to cross in order to get into the ocean. We snorkeled from the house, but entering the ocean with scuba gear on would have been pretty difficult, and getting out would have been even more dangerous as the surf can be pretty rough here due to exposure to high winds. It was quite windy at the house most of our vacation week, which kept us cool and bug free (for the most part), but kept ocean conditions rough. The breeze in the house during the day however, with all doors open, was heavenly.
Divers' Republic, the dive center located in Coral Estates complex is very accommodating and helpful. We rented full equipment there for the week and kept it at the house. Their boat was broken during our trip, so be sure to inquire about this ahead of time if interested. Lot's of other dive centers offer both shore and boat diving, but if your group is large at all, you should email/call ahead to book space on popular boat dives (such as mushroom forest). The reef at Coral Estates is nice, but there are more impressive places to dive not too far away. We booked the dive instructor from Divers' Republic for a one day 2 tank outing, and she took us to 2 very nice, secluded spots (Playa Largu and Playa Mansalina).
We did a boat trip from Go West Diving to Watamula and were blown away by how beautiful the reef was and by the abundance of underwater life, including colorful coral like I haven't seen in a long time. The house reef at Go West (Alice in Wonderland) was also an amazing dive and easy to do alone without dive instructor. All amenities available here (lockers, etc.).
It is also very easy to drive from Coral Estates to Playa Porto Mari (10 minutes) and rent anything from just tanks to full equipment and dive a very beautiful reef. The beach area here is public and requires payment of a small fee to access water from beach, in addition to diving fees. Lockers are available for rent as well. Restaurant and bar are right there too.
A lovely place!
