Outstanding! Highly Recommend

5 of 5
As we were planning our family trip to Croatia(Istria), we were searching for a tranquil villa where we could relax yet be close enough that we could explore Istria and the beaches. Villa Jelenic exceeded our expectations! As we arrived at the gated entry way, we were led up the driveway which was lined with lavender and rosemary bushes. The villa was situated on top of the hill with beautiful views of the mountainside. As we enterted the doorway, the owner had prepared bottles of wine as well as olive oil, rakija(grappa) and vinegar from their farmland. The villa was exactly what we were looking for. Designed as a traditional stone home it had all the modern amenities(WiFI, AC). The villa was pristine, comfortable, and well decorated with traditional Istrian touches. Doing a lot of traveling this was one of the nicest places we stayed. The pool area was relaxing and the outdoor kitchen and seating area were perfect the days we decided to stay home and cook our own meals. The villa was centrally located so you were never more than 20min to 1.5 hrs from exploring Istria. Although we did alot of traveling, the days we spent at the villa were most memorable. An added bonus was the fenced in area which was perfect for our children to run around and explore with no worry. We spent every morning feeding the deer which the children cherished most. It was nice having the owners close by so if there was any question they were a phone call or email away. We could not have been more happy with our stay and we are looking forward to spending time at Villa Jelenic next summer!!

Authentic mountain village with possibilities!

5 of 5
If you are looking for an authentic Croatian mountain village experience this is definitely a place to consider. We stayed here for 3 nights this summer on our travel through Europe. We have spent a lot of time in northern Italy mountain biking, but wanted to try out Croatia for the first time, as we had heard many good things about this area. We were looking for a mix of an authentic small village experience with good MTB and road biking possibilities, as we are very active. We came across this brand new restored villa and went for it. The villa had one large apartment in the second floor, and two smaller apartments in the lower floor. Each apartment had a small garden with sitting area. The villa was beautifully restored and located in the center of a small Croatian village. The atmosphere was nice and quite with very friendly neighbors. The owners, Nora and Al, where there doing final landscaping and restoring a beautiful watchtower to the building. Al and Nora are themselves enthusiastic mountain bikers and offered to be guides the two days we went biking. The village is located in a park and had amazing trails basically starting right outside the door. We had two great rides! Although we only rode our mountain bikes the two days we road, this area is perfect for road biking as well, with nice winding roads with little traffic. We dinned out two evenings and tried two different places based on our hosts recommendations, both places with excellent food and wine. One was a restaurant located in the medieval part of Buzet, also known as the city of truffles. The other was a beautifully located kanoba, a family style restaurant with amazing food and wine and an amazing view. If we ever return to this area we would definitely consider this place again. I would love to go back for more biking. Thanks to Nora and Al for their hospitality, guided trips and other recommendations...we had a great time!
