Stay here, not in Lapad

4 of 5
Sure, the hotels out in Lapad are quieter and closer to the beach, but they're BORING! This apartment puts you inside the walls of Old Town Dubrovnik -- and rarer still, you'll have only a very few stairs to climb. You'll feel like a local as you put your key in the green door. Though Old Town gets crazily crowded, staying here lets you go out exploring early, before the cruise ship hordes invade. Apartment is in a gracious old building on a beautiful square with plenty of cafes and a morning market. Close to the harbor, restaurants, and the walk atop the city walls. Rebecca and Vido, who do the communicating and meeting and greeting for the owner, are wonderful and helpful. Bed is comfortable, living room nice, shower decent if tiny, and wifi works in one corner. As everyone says, be prepared for noise because the cafe tables are essentially reachable from the window. But the bed is in a quiet stone alcove, and the fan/AC unit helps with sound. When we joined a tour group in Lapad after staying here for two nights, everyone was so jealous that we got to sleep in Old Town.

Best Vacation So Far!

5 of 5
When I initially reserved this villa, there was only one review on which to base the booking. I decided to take the chance, crossing my fingers that it would be as wonderful as we wanted it to be. It was amazing!!! The view was absolutely spectacular, so much so, that we spent every free moment between waking up and going to bed on the upper terrace. The home is very clean and well appointed, and my husband and I, who both like to cook, were impressed with the size and how well equipped the kitchen was (including a blender that can crush ice for those tropical cocktails!). The beds were very comfortable and for the few days that we were adjusting to the heat having come from a colder climate, the efficient air conditioning unit on the main floor did the trick! (There is another unit in the 3rd floor, which we didn't need but it is there if you are a bigger party.) There is also great water pressure and plenty of hot water, and the WIFI was able to stream video fairly seamlessly. The villa is extremely well situated and is a quick walk from the peninsula's only parking lot, which is where you will leave your car since you can walk or ferry to everything (although you will receive a parking pass with in/out privileges including with the rental). Cavtat's beautiful restaurant and shop-lined water front is just a quick jaunt down the cobblestone stairs. There is also a wonderful swim club just a short walk away where you can rent chaises and towels, complete with use of the hotel's sea front amenities. A quaint grocery store with a respectable fresh meat counter which varies daily, a bakery, apothecary, bank, etc. are all an equally quick jaunt away. The villa and pretty much the entire peninsula is in a pedestrian only zone, with no access by vehicle, so pack accordingly. Hands down, my husband and I agree that it is the best vacation we have ever taken, even with a few days of rain. We just wandered down to our favorite wine bar and watched the rain and boats rock around in the harbor. We can't wait to come back! Thank you, Kate and Nicholina, for being such a great owner and hostess!

They made us feel like old friends

5 of 5
Highly recommended! The owners truly and literally went out of their way and beyond anything I would have imagined to make our stay fantastic. We arrived very early and yet they helped us find a place for our luggage and car at 7:30 am. Then when our lovely place was ready, they helped carry our suitcases! The place itself was exactly as advertised and very conveniently located in the old town, yet quiet. We loved the place, but everyone should just be aware that there are a lot of stairs In the home and to get to the home. It's part of the charm as far as we and the kids were concerned.
