Del Congo de Uvita - A Paradise on Earth!

5 of 5
This was an incredible journey! We arrived at the house, up the huge mountain and felt as if we were in paradise! The view was beyond stunning and it was so peaceful. We loved the indigenous town of Uvita. The description of the home and area was exactly as expected. Del has an amazing household team: Alex and Estefany, who are wonderfully warm, helpful and friendly people. Without them, the trip would not have been as enjoyable...they were there for our every need and we miss them! They both made sure that every detail was taken care of for us and always explained how to get to places; they cleaned the home everyday while we were gone and we always returned to fresh laundry! Thank you to Del for also ensuring that our trip was the best it could be; he stayed in contact with us throughout the trip, checking in to make sure our stay was a good one! His home couldn't have been more relaxing after a long day of horseback riding, waterfall excursions, ATV'ing, boating, and more. Not only do you have an amazing view but the home has doors that open on all sides and you feel as if you a living among nature in the rainforest. Even when it did rain, we sat out on the patio with drinks and listened to the sounds of rain and animals. We experienced seeing a slow sloth in a tree one day, toucan birds and heard the roars of monkeys. We also saw a colorful macaw bird and baby monkeys playing in a local restaurant, among the trees. There are many wonderful beaches to explore every single day along the coast - some in the national parks and better ones outside of the park - especially Play Ventana, our favorite private beach, not far from Uvita. Also make sure to check out the Tilapias El Pavon restaurant near the Punta Mala de Osa bridge - it has an amazing waterfall on the grounds (INCREDIBLE!!). We don't have too many criticisms; we didn't have any bug biting problems and the house was bug free aside from a visit or two from a gecko; the ride up and down the mountain takes some getting used to as it is somewhat steep and narrow, but we just took it slow; we even stopped at Del's small yet beautiful waterfall on the grounds. Overall the trip was the perfect adventurous type vacation you dream of and the local people are extremely friendly; you feel safe all the time and only have to relax and enjoy the beautify surroundings. We will definitely return some day. Thank you Del, Alex and Estefany for such a lovely memory! The Sparacios, New York

Luxurious stay with magical views

5 of 5
The house is luxurious and beautiful. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The mountain and ocean view is breathtaking. Perfect for relaxing after our very adventurous days of hiking, snorkeling, riding ATV's, jumping from waterfalls, visiting the beach... Loved the lap pool! The boys were happy with the DVD collection. Watching movies was a nice way to end our days. Alex, the concierge, was great. He set us up on the best snorkeling excursion ever! Much more than snorkeling. We also visited two private jungle islands with wild macaws and anteaters and saw crocs and monkeys on the river portion of the tour. Although a bit nervous about mountain driving I felt comfortable on the paved roads and the drive leading up to the house. Our family had the time of our lives!

Your search is over.... paradise found!

5 of 5
Where to start? Well, lets start six months prior to our stay at Casa Aracari. After making contact with the owners through this website I received a friendly response from Claire. Over the following months Claire answered all my questions not only about the house but other facets of our visit. Also the good folks at Uvita Information Center were outstanding in organizing our car rental and all the activities that we wanted to do. So, when we arrived at Parmer Sur our car was waiting at the airport. As you have probably gathered by reading other reviews, most of us are unprepared for that first trip up the mountain to the house. But don't let this put you off, if you're coming to Costa Rica you are going to be driving on unpaved roads, so get with the program! By the second or third day you'll be tackling it like a rally driver pro, just select 1st gear at the bottom of the hill and go for it, it's a blast! Once you arrive at the property you're going to want to open all the sliding doors, step out onto terrace look out over the jungle and the outstanding vista which is the Whales Tail and Cano Island. Breathe in, breathe out and then go WOW!! Take a look at the beaming smiles on the rest of your party and congratulate yourself on making such a smart choice of destination. When you step out onto the master suite balcony and look out at this stunning scene the heavenly gates will open up and a choir of angles will sing. Think I'm kidding? Well there's only one way you're going to find out! Claire has equipped this house so that your stay will not encounter any stress. All the modern conveniences that we all just couldn't do without and all the furnishings and decor are tastefully selected to enhance the experience. Everything is immaculately clean. Now, some of you might be put off by the idea of your early morning alarm call being supplied by the resident Howler Monkeys but the reality of the situation is that it starts to get light about 4:00am and get dark by about 6:00pm. The nice thing is that you will transition into your new waking day effortlessly. Awake, smile, go out onto the balcony and just soak up that glorious new day. In that dawn light you can survey the beauty of the jungle, the distant sound of the ocean, nature unfurling itself as monkeys scamper from tree to tree and parrots call to each other. Yes... Pura Vida! And, after your day's activities, be they spent by the pool or exploring the area you will be ready for bed by 9:00pm.
