Great for families, close to everything

5 of 5
I stayed a week with my family (two children, ages 6 and 9) and had a wonderful visit. The condo is spacious, centrally located, and very comfortable with extra towels, all cooking implements necessary, etc. We had researched the safest beaches in Costa Rica because we know many have a powerful rip current. Sámara's waves were perfect for our first-time boogie-boarders. The water is warm and clear -- just delightful! We went to the beach every day, morning and afternoon (to avoid strong mid-day heat) and loved every minute. We also loved coming home to the spacious condo and relaxing in the pool. The kids loved the Hello Kitty toaster :), and the iguanas who hang out in the roof and yard. Melissa, the property manager, was easy to meet and helpful with recommendations around town. Carla, the owner, was very gracious and helped us re-schedule when our initial plans changed. Just a block away is a massage therapy school, where you can get a great massage for just $20-30. We would love to come back!

This was the perfect location and I will return!

5 of 5
I must apologize for this late review! I was positive I had submitted it on VRBO. I stayed in the apartment on the top floor for a month. Riding my rental bike down the beach each day was amazing. The room itself was clean and well maintained. Randall and Zorro the Wonder Dog, kept the grounds, pool and everything else neat, clean and safe. Randall is often mentioned in these reviews for good reason. Stay at Alta Vista and it will be clear why he so well respected. I would like to add some tips here. I did not rent a vehicle for almost three weeks. A beach cruiser with a basket, is a wonderful way to see Samara, and you will certainly get some exercise and make more friends. The parking is free, covered, and secure when and if you rent a vehicle. The walk is fairly easy but the bike was faster and just more fun. A couple of doors down toward the beach is a small soda named" Alice's" . She and her family were a joy, the food was excellent, and she is very proud of her flowers and plants. And speaking of that, Randall, like many Ticos that I met, are very knowledgeable about the plants and their uses, and really know a ton about the birds and animals. I was met by Laura, who helped me with all pre-arrival details as well. She made me feel welcome and informed about the property. Patrick was upfront about the property, and is respected around Samara by the folks I spoke to.. The property itself is great, and will certainly be a big plus to your visit. I found that the location provided a large open beach view, without being far away. It was just close enough to Samara to provide quick easy access and far enough away for a little more peace and quiet. I will definitely return. Thanks everyone at Alta Vista Condo for a dream vacation. Give Zorro a pat for me.

great condo. great beach. great people

4 of 5
we stayed at this wonderful condo with the most amazing views for one week. the property was advertised accurately and held true to its homeaway listing. the local property manager, nick, was reliable and welcoming with great - helpful communication. the walk to the beach was short and yes....hilly. but its costa rica and the condo is specifically-strategically located on the hillside which gives the breath-taking views. we saw the colorful sunsets and amazing light shows with a few evening storms that mother nature brought our way - a clear fresh morning view of samara beach. the pool was clean and not crowded (we only saw a father and his 2 kids one morning the entire week we were there)....also has an amazing view. we love-loved samara....it was a great mix of a beautiful beach and local flare. we enjoyed swimming in the ocean at high and low tide (body surfing and boogie boarding), did a local zipline with ocean views, waterfall hikes-swims 10-20 minutes inland, dinned at local eateries, enjoyed happy hour drinks beachside, and made a few trips to the quieter sister beach called carrillo. and we feel like we just scratched the surface of costa rica. we highly recommend enjoying beachside tacos at lo que hay and stopping in the samara-carrillo info center....talk to chris! he is very nice-helpful and will give you honest and accurate advise/recommends or book tours with no pressure! we enjoyed evening happy hours at gusto with the yummy drinks and inviting ambience (beachside). we had a delicious dinner at casa esmerlada and a flavorful lunch at the natural center. another MUST: cafe rosa which is about 15 mins from samara on the road going to/from the liberia airport (nicoya)....amazing views with delicious fresh farm fish raised by the owner! i would have to disagree with the previous (most recent) review. its not a 5-star all-inclusive type of place or location (samara is a beach town with lots of friendly locals) but i dont think that is what it is advertised as and why we picked this spot specifically. we wanted a true costa rican experience and that is what we got. we are looking forward to returning to costa rica and would (without hesitation) recommend this property and location to friends and family. pura vida!
