Recent Costa Rica Reviews

Relaxing, amazing.

5 of 5
We got exactly what we wanted and expected for a stay. To say it was enjoyable is an understatement. Our group: Mostly first timers to Costa Rica – eleven people ranging from 5 months to 65 years old Transportation: Prior to departure, the owner emailed us turn by turn directions which were invaluable. Our group arrived in two rented cars, one using the directions and the other a GPS. The car using the directions had no problem, the other got lost and even locals couldn’t help out since the villa is really tucked away. Villa: Very spacious and well maintained. Great for multiple families and kids of all ages although there isn’t a lot of outdoor ‘running around’ space. Perched on the cliff, it offered amazing views of the ocean and sunset. If steps are a problem for you, not the best option. The staff speak very little English so it helps to know a little Spanish. They are very friendly though! There’s multiple Wi-Fi routers set-up throughout so no issues accessing internet. The infinity pool is small but great to lounge in/around. Beach: The stairway to the beach is long (75+ steps) but in immaculate condition. The beach itself is fantastic – nice fine sand, some shaded areas and clear water. Waves ranged from large to quite small depending on the tide and winds. Some large rocks but easily avoided. Dining: If you have a larger group, I highly recommend getting a private chef for at least some of your days there. We booked Chef Frank from “Belly Fedbetter.” The food far exceeded expectations, amazing authentic Costa Rican and Frank was an absolute pleasure to have around. The meals were even better than the times we went out to restaurants. Speaking of which, in the immediate area there are not a lot. Mostly only Hotel restaurants of varying quality. Area: There’s a small ‘convenience store’ and pizza place/bar about a 5 minute walk away. You can rent essentials for water sports (kayaks, boogie boards, etc.) just off the beach. Not much for night life either but the area is more 55+ after all. Tour operators are set up close by as well. For groceries and decent shopping it’s best to rent a car or cab.

Pinch me, I'm at Casa Pura Vista.

5 of 5
Casa Pura Vista is a dream! The entire experience there felt like a dream world, from the miraculous views, the scarlet macaw sightings, to sunsets. I don't know how to explain it. I traveled with my husband and we had the time of our life. Each night Renzo, our personal chef, made us dinner, and Kimberly, our concierge, helped us book tours during the day. This is the place to be if you're staying in Manuel Antonio. Gorgeous! Thanks!!

Debra's 50th Birthday

5 of 5
By far one of the best vacations ever. Casa Espanola is a fabulous, upscale villa that is spacious, modern and clean. I traveled with a group of 20 people and everyone was in awe. I probably will never go to a hotel again after the Casa Espanola experience. The dining area was big enough for everyone, thus producing a total family vibe at mealtime. The rooms are big and the beds are huge. Chef Glenda and her daughter were the absolute best and the menu selections are just too many to name. The ride from SJO airport was 2 1/2 hrs but no one seemed to mind the long ride because it gave you an opportunity to sightsee. We also took the local bus in Manuel Antonio for about .67 cents....what a deal. I can't say enough about this fabulous place. I can't wait to go back. Thanks to Amy, Hazel and the staff at Casa Espanola.
