Perfect.

I have been to Costa Rica many times and even stayed long term a few years ago...this was by far my favorite trip and location! The home is beautiful, well-kept and the perfect size for the 3 of us who traveled. The view was amazing, but I have to say my favorite part of the house was the kitchen that was fully stocked with all the things you need to cook. Because of the remote location, we had planned on cooking most meals so we were thrilled to have all the utensils, pots, pans, etc. to do so!! (if you've traveled and rented homes before, you know a fully stocked kitchen is hard to come by!) You *definitely* need a car and be sure to pick up groceries and stock up on your favorite adult beverages in La Fortuna, as the smaller stores in the town are a little pricier. We had dinner & lunch a few times at the Soda at the bottom of the mountain as well as Pizza Johns. Both were delicious and the perfect Costa Rican cuisine to finish off a day of exploring. Hannah and Thomas were amazing hosts and easily accessible. They own a small shop with handmade art, crafts, hot sauce and oils right down the road.. we brought some hot sauce home and I only wish we had more money on us because Hannah's art was very cool!! We did the Sky Trek Zipline & Sky Walk (hanging bridges)... the Sky Walk was a little underwhelming but the ziplines are a MUST DO. There are also plenty of trails to waterfalls right outside the door. (Hannah & Thomas can give you good directions) My personal favorite hike was the grueling 5 hour climb up Cerro Chato. It was so hard and we were crawling on our hands up the stairs when we got back to the house.. but it was a great way to take in the fresh air and see the rainforest. Unfortunately, it rained on us the whole way up and we couldn't really see the emerald green lagoon because of the fog, but it was still pretty cool to say we "swam in a volcano". ;) I would definitely recommend this home to anyone who is out to relax and take in the Pura Vida Costa Rican lifestyle. There are plenty of trails and activities in driving distance to keep you busy.. but it's such a great place to cook up a casado, whip up a good cocktail and enjoy the view! :) We will definitely be returning!!

great but.....

Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: sancudos, mosquitos need extermination of alls bugs Manager responded on 12/9/2014: Thank you for your comments. Mosquitoes (zancudos in Costa Rican Spanish) are a common occurrence in all Costa Rica's coastlines and Jaco is not the exception. The transition time between rainy and dry seasons are intensified. All of our homes undergo fumigation and this house actually was just recently fumigated. However, it is almost impossible to fully control mosquitoes as they are not crawling insects. We recommend using bug spray whenever you are outdoors and especially at dusk. That is usually enough deterrent. Gabriel Rocha, Director, BEACHHOME Costa Rica Vacation Rentals.

Awesome

We heard of this wonderful place and of the hospitality from another traveler. After spending over a week on the beach of the Caribbean coast, we thought we'd go inland. What a treat to have a fantastic view of the village below and mountains all around, right from our bed's view. The lights at night were so starry that we couldn't close the curtains. The cabin is very comfortable and inviting. Extra blanket and pillow if needed. We were pleasantly treated with freshly cut fruit and treats in the mini fridge provided. Coffee, Tea and Water, all provided in the cabin. The Owners Annette and Harry are very hospital hosts. They serve a fantastic breakfast in a separate/shared dinning cabin, included with your stay. We stayed 3 nights and requested to have dinners provided so we were fortunate to enjoy three wonderful dinners as well. All fresh and delicious. Harry is very knowledgeable of the area. He was our personal tour guide one day of the area including the volcanos. They assisted us to arrange a river rafting adventure and make reservations for the next leg of our journey in Costa Rica. We really enjoyed this treasure in the mountains with the best hosts you could ask for. Thanks Annette and Harry!
