Beautiful house, great for seeing monkeys

4 of 5
The house was beautiful, and was a great location for seeing monkeys and a sloth right there from the balcony. The view from the house is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were nice, some definitely more so than others, though. And expect bugs inside the house and ants in the kitchen, as you might expect when living in the rainforest. It wasn't bad, just plan on it and keep most of your food in the ref ridge. Alberto (the property manager) was very nice and helpful, booked a tour for us and even took us to the farmer's market in Quepos for fresh fish and produce. Monica our housekeeper was wonderful and she came every day to clean the kitchen and do laundry. She even showed us how to make starfruit juice! My only disappointment was that the house was not very walkable to the beaches or park entrance like it says on the website and some reviews. My family and I are in excellent shape, but to walk along the main road that leads to the beaches or park was NOT safe at all because there is no space for walking and you have to literally dodge cars. And it took WAY longer than it claims on the website. You can walk to some shops, cafes and a little grocery store (which is expensive even by US standards, so beware), but not to any of the main sites or beaches in the area. Sure, you can take the local bus or a taxi, but we chose this house based on walking distance as the description/website promises ... and was disappointed to find it wasn't walkable like we thought. Besides that everything else was accurate as mentioned and we had a great time. We loved Playa Biesanz (the local tico beach) but again don't plan on walking, at least not on the way back as it's quite challenging and long. And Manuel Antonio Beach inside the park is gorgeous. One tip: hire a guide for the park as you might not see any animals otherwise. Also, eat at Cafe Agua Azul, it was amazing! And very close to the street where the house is located. The people there were so nice and the food was delicious.

Memorable Costa Rican Vacation at Villa Solo Bueno

5 of 5
Our family enjoyed a beautiful stay at Villa Solo Bueno. The villa's owner and the Tekoa concierge were helpful in the planning of our trip, and even suggested a mercado on our way from San Jose when they learned of our gluten allergies. We arrived after dark to a clean, well-maintained and nicely appointed villa. Access was via a steep but easily negotiated gravel road in our rented small SUV. We awoke to a breathtaking view of a Pacific cove framed by lovely flowers and lush trees. Many hours were spent relaxing on the veranda and enjoying this little piece of paradise in paradise. Our son enjoyed surfing with a locally rented board while our daughter used one of the boogie boards stored at the villa. A favorite adventure was the zip-lining canopy tour with Santuario Tours out of Manuel Antonia National Park. We were pleased to discover a few excellent restaurants tucked away on back roads within 30 minutes of the villa. Costa Ricans have a lovely spirit and this was a perfect family vacation.

Should be called "Villa Los Amazing"!!

5 of 5
Just returned to the States from Costa Rica and Villa Los Airies. What an amazing trip and location! About 3.5 hours from San Jose, Villa Los Airies is situated in the most beautiful valley high up on the mountainside offering amazing views of the Costa Rican jungle. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and were immediately taken in by the Villa and its wide sweeping veranda overlooking the pool and mountain backdrop. All the rooms were well appointed each air conditioned which turned out to be a VERY welcome amenity after a long day in the Costa Rican sun. The building is well appointed with a pool, amazing hot tub and 60 acres of jungle where there is no end to surprises around every turn - waterfalls, horses, never ending flowers and the most amazing wildlife... Sitting by the pool watching the toucans or turkey vulture rest in trees 10 feet away was spectacular! Ballsy the house cat kept the Howler Monkeys at bay but you could hear them just out of sight jabbering on and on. Wow! The rooms were amazing and each had a private bath and shower some with shower views overlooking the mountainside - very relaxing. The kitchen was well appointed and had separate areas for meal prep and dish washing etc. Owner Steve is replacing appliances and donating the not so old ones to the community center down the road so folks can enjoy a cold drink or a warm Cosado - the traditional meal of Costa Rica. And what an be said of Pablo - the Conciegre, Manager, Lifesaver.... Pablo and the staff at the Villa make you feel like you are home and a part of the local family. Be sure to check out the local bodega's, eateries and maybe if you are lucky you'll go on a horseback ride with Pablo's uncles! The Villa is well appointed - there is am awesome outdoor grilling area as well are a secluded hot tub areas and for those into chess an almost life size chess set hidden in the woods by the hot tub.... Oh and did I mention the waterfall!!?? If you are going to Villa Los Airies I hope you had as an amazing of a time as we did - and don't forget to say Hi to the jungle ants for me!!!
