Good apartment

4 of 5
Great location within 5-min walk to Quepos and bus stop to Manuel Antonio. You'll have to walk uphill to get to the apartment but it's good exercise. Great view overlooking the mountain and forest. From balcony, we saw monkeys playing in the trees by the pool. Dorit was a great hostess. She gave a lot of great recommendations and helped us book some tours and activities. Cleaning service was nice. The bathroom needs a towel rack or shelf to hang towels and clothes. Beware. There will be bugs and lizards because it's a tropical area. Can't really blame the apartment for that but just beware. Don't leave food out or bugs will swarm all over it.

Will be back!

5 of 5
The place is not in the village but close enough to walk into town. The local bus went by three or four times a day. It goes from Montezuma to Cabo Blanco National Park. So after shopping we caught it to come back with the groceries. You do not need a car at all. There also are plenty of taxis. The beach in front of the house is often deserted and has great spots to swim. It seemed very safe to us since there are rock formations to both sides of it. At two hundred meters there is a great surf spot popular with locals and foreigners. It is an easy left wave but only during high tide. For serious surfing we organized a ride to Mal Pais but the crowds over there were not our thing. We preferred the laid back feeling of Cabuya. There are two sea kayaks for rent at farm. We took them for a paddle from the house to the cemetery island where we saw plenty of fish while snorkeling and of course some strange graves. We also took a great day tour to Isla Tortuga from Montezuma where the snorkeling is even better. Coming back in the evening to cook and relax and listen to the waves made our stay unforgettable.

Perfect get away in nice and cool Dominical!

4 of 5
My girlfriend, 2 young boys and myself headed to the Blue Shack this spring 2014 for a 2-week stay. Although we had seen pictures, we were stunned on arrival by how clean, modern and big the house actually was. The house is also conveniently located in the middle of the main road in Dominical with a lot of services (grocery, restaurants, liquor store, laundry) and most importantly, the beach, within walking distance. We were also impressed by how isolated it was from all the dust and noise coming from the, sometime, busy street outside. The house is also well secured with high walls, gate and secured room, no stress there. Despite the very warm outside temperature during our stay (even according to the locals) we were always comfortable in the house thanks to all the fans. The 3rd floor terrace is a really nice spot to relax in the hammocks or watch the sunset over the ocean... The owners were very helpful during the booking, responded quickly to any questions by emails and also helped us organized our stay. Their onsite "representative" is the coolest guy and he also helped us a lot. Dominical is mainly a surf spot but, it is also perfect for beginners like us. There are surf lessons and board rental all over the place. The good thing is that it is not a crowded destination so, the vibe was relax and chill just as we had hope! There are many other things to do in the area accessible by car or taxi by yourself or with an organized tour; reptile zoo, waterfalls, sea caves, snorkelling, diving trip, horse back, hiking, national parks, ... There are many restaurants in town for many different taste and budget. Our favourite were the taco Tuesday at San Clemente Bar and Grill and the pizzas from La Casita. We also cooked a lot in the huge and fully furnished kitchen of the Blue Shack including a gas stove and an espresso machine. All in all, we had a great time in Dominical and the Blue Shack definitely had a key role in the success of our vacation. We are looking forward to go back!
