Another Great stay in San Jose

5 of 5
Another great stay at Peters place in Barrio Otoya. Centrally located, walking distance to everywhere I wanted to go, explicit directions for the taxis. Again, it was cool, almost cold from midnight till noon the it warmed up from noon till midnight. Hot water on demand, small but quite adequate kitchen, excellent fridge, TV & wi-fi!

Great base to experience the real Costa Rica

5 of 5
The casita was everything advertised and more. The casita itself is very clean, well equipped for an extended stay, private and the views can not be beat. The location from the center of town was just right for me, about a mile and a half. I walked while there, only cabbed, which is very inexpensive, on a few occasions. Pat and John were very accommodating and included me in several of the local gringo activities. When my girlfriend joined me for a week, they were very welcoming of her and we had much fun that week, largely based on Pat and John's recommendations of activities. The weeks I was there solo, I tried, for the most part, to see the town as part of day to day living. The small town feel and friendliness of the local people was just what I was looking for. Learn a little Spanish and the Ticos will bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. Ann and I hired a local tour guide, Walter Ramirez, for a day, touring San Jose, the Museum of Jade and Zoo Ave in Alajuela, all well worth endeavors. The local neighborhood, Barrio Fatima, is pretty quiet, very pretty and if you get off the more traveled road, you'll see a lot of wildlife. Having arrived at the end of the dry season, it was pretty amazing to see everything turn green and come to life, with the brief afternoon showers. Not only would I recommend Casita Limón highly, I hope to return, repeatedly. Thanks John and Pat, for opening p the casita for visitors and making Ann and I feel welcome. I miss being there, already. Haven't seen a single iguana, since returning home.
