Paradise, As Advertised

5 of 5
We stayed at the Flying Toucans in early June. We are a family of 4, including 9 and 11 year old girls. It was an experience of a lifetime! This property is spectacular and immaculate. It offers relaxation, incredible views, a wonderful pool, and every comfort you could wish for. There is an abundance of wildlife which is entertaining in itself. It's obvious that John and Mary have gone the extra mile. Daryl was a fantastic resource, and Joiner did a splendid job keeping everything in top notch condition. Every previous review rates it a 5-star, with good reason. I second every positive comment that others have left. Here are some extra tidbits that may help enhance your experience. We had every intention to prepare our own meals, but quickly discovered that the local restaurants were fabulous and very reasonable. Specifically, Porque No, Exotica, and Parcella. Be sure to find these places in the daylight, as finding them at night can be tricky. We flew in and out of Liberia, a 5-hour drive. The roads were surprisingly good, much better than I expected. Road signs could have been better. I recorded my rental car inspection as a precaution, just to avoid any unpleasant surprises when I dropped it off at the airport. We rented a Yaris, which was adequate for the driving we did. The Whale's tail and horseback riding were fantastic. Lounging in the pool and admiring the views filled out our week. A splendid vacation all around! Thanks John and Mary! We've recommended Flying Toucans to our friends, and hope to visit again some time.

Awesome Vacation! Fantastic Home!

5 of 5
This review is well overdue but I am more than happy to write it. Our family has planned for this trip for quite some time now, and Beth as well as Jack have been nothing but helpful in ensuring that we knew everything from what to do whilst in Jacó to transportation from the airport. The whole process was absolutely wonderful and could not have been any smoother! The pictures that we saw here on VRBO were very accurate on what we witnessed when we arrived (which in all honesty was a huge concern). The location of the home was also spot on as we walked into the backyard only to see the beach! What I enjoyed most about our experience here in Jacó was that we were in an area that was not crowded with tourist, so there was more room for us to experience CR with the natives. Downtown was most lively and we did enjoy the Taco Bar! I most definitely recommend this property to any of my friends or relatives who want to getaway and still stay in a beautiful home as well as area of CR! Thank you Beth & Jack for welcoming us into your fantastic home, when we return to CR we most definitely will look you up again!

Ten amazing days at Casa Serendipia

5 of 5
The last part of drive from San Jose as you reach the Dominical area is simply the most beautiful region we have visited. Getting to the house was no problem and meeting their concierge upon our arrival was a nice way to get settled in and introduce us to the many activities in the area that Alex can help arrange. The house is absolutely gorgeous as is the view of the beach from the pool deck. What we really liked about the house is that each of the three master suites was large and had separate bath and walk-in closets. We have stayed at other houses that had undersized rooms but this was not the case here. Each bedroom also had an outstanding view of the beach/ocean. No “garden view” rooms here. Only postcard pretty views every morning that you wake up. The view from the kitchen was the same outstanding postcard. The appliances were all newer and met all our needs. They have an outdoor gas grill that we used to make shish kabobs one evening (kabob sticks were in the kitchen drawer). We picked up steaks from the Uvita store and vegetables from the market. There is something very special about enjoying an amazing meal while sitting on your own private pool deck watching a Pacific sunset. We spent a lot of time by the pool enjoying the view and a few rum drinks. The house had a nice i-pod dock for use by the pool and the wireless was fast and reliable. When we didn’t play our own playlist we streamed music from the internet. The house is only a few minutes from the beach whether you walk or go by car. We walked early and late but took the car during the mid-day heat. The community is gated and has a guard on duty at all times. Although we have never heard of any problems when we have been in this part of Costa Rica it is still nice knowing there is a guard at the gate to assure your safety and privacy. We have been in the area before but took advantage of Alex to help arrange some of our activities. We drove to Serpia and took a boat to tour the Osa from the Sirena Biological Station. Saw all four types of monkeys, tons of birds, a tapir, as well as many other land animals. We also did the horseback ride to the beautiful Nauyaca Waterfalls and took some great pictures of the kids jumping off the falls. The kids did the kayak trip to Ventanas Beach where we drove to meet them during their stop at that beach and explored the caves at low tide. We highly recommend staying in Casa Serendipity. 2 adults + 2 kids in 20's.
