What an awesome week we had in Costa Rica. We were a group of four families comprised of 8 adults and 8 kids from age 2 to turned 13 while we were there. The house was absolutley perfect for our needs and had everything necessary to make our week a great one. We appreciated the helpfulness of Karen and the ease of booking. Our week was made even better by Bernie and Ronald as we always felt so well looked after. What a treat not having to cook and even having someone to lay out the hammocks for us each day. Any requests were done with a smile and a "mucho gusto"... from grocery shopping to calling cabs and to ensuring that we started and ended the day with a fantastic meal. An added bonus was the wonderful Macha who was always willing to stroll on the beach and to watch over the kids. The property was very well kept and the pool kept the grown ups cool and the kids entertained all day long. We swam in the ocean, walked on the beach and even tried our hand at body surfing. The house was well located for the endless tours and day trips in the area. You really must go feed the monkeys... it was great fun for all. A special "gracias por todo" for Bernie... mi amiga. Miss you lots! :)

My sister and I stayed at Villa Cabomar for over a dozen days between the months of April-July 2013. As we own property elsewhere in Costa Rica and have traveled extensively throughout the country since 1996, we are very familiar with the hotel and vacation rental market. Suffice to say that for a private home, Villa Cabomar is the nicest property available in Puntarenas and certainly in the top tier for Costa Rica. The home is extremely spacious and comfortable and constructed to a European or American standard and includes private bathrooms for each guest room, very good air conditioning (Puntarenas is hot!) and a lovely private landscaped back patio and plunge pool. The caretaker, Teresita, is absolutely fantastic and keeps the home literally spotless. Everything in the home is in perfect working order and Teresita serves a variety of typical Tico breakfasts with strong Costa Rican coffee and fresh tropical fruits daily. We were very thankful that Villa Cabomar has a washing machine due to the hot weather and the sand from the beach and also for the good wifi. While Villa Cabomar is not “on the beach,” the paseo (beach boardwalk) is just a block away and you will be free from the constant barrage of trinket and lottery ticket sellers. Booking our stay was very easy. The owners were always very responsive to our emails and calls and I appreciated that I was able to pay for our multiple stays by simply depositing the funds into their Citibank account at my local Citibank branch as opposed to dealing with wire transfers and such. As a final recommendation, try a meal at Matobe’s pizzeria on the paseo (closed Wednesdays) – it may well be the best restaurant in town.
