My sister and I stayed at Villa Cabomar for over a dozen days between the months of April-July 2013. As we own property elsewhere in Costa Rica and have traveled extensively throughout the country since 1996, we are very familiar with the hotel and vacation rental market. Suffice to say that for a private home, Villa Cabomar is the nicest property available in Puntarenas and certainly in the top tier for Costa Rica. The home is extremely spacious and comfortable and constructed to a European or American standard and includes private bathrooms for each guest room, very good air conditioning (Puntarenas is hot!) and a lovely private landscaped back patio and plunge pool. The caretaker, Teresita, is absolutely fantastic and keeps the home literally spotless. Everything in the home is in perfect working order and Teresita serves a variety of typical Tico breakfasts with strong Costa Rican coffee and fresh tropical fruits daily. We were very thankful that Villa Cabomar has a washing machine due to the hot weather and the sand from the beach and also for the good wifi. While Villa Cabomar is not “on the beach,” the paseo (beach boardwalk) is just a block away and you will be free from the constant barrage of trinket and lottery ticket sellers. Booking our stay was very easy. The owners were always very responsive to our emails and calls and I appreciated that I was able to pay for our multiple stays by simply depositing the funds into their Citibank account at my local Citibank branch as opposed to dealing with wire transfers and such. As a final recommendation, try a meal at Matobe’s pizzeria on the paseo (closed Wednesdays) – it may well be the best restaurant in town.

              Great Pool

              5 of 5
We had a wonderful time at the house. The best part about the place was the pool. It was clean, beautiful and right outside your bedroom door! They had pool toys and towels to use. The listing was quite accurate. The pictures were very helpful. I was impressed with the fact that the house had a crib and a highchair for our kids. The house keeper and cook were very kind and made us feel right at home. We had a large group and the house fit us perfectly. With all the seperate rooms, each couple had their own room for privacy. The lot was right on the beach, which was beautiful at night. The waves turned up the sand a little but it was still great. The location was a little difficult to get to places but only because of the traffic around the country. My only suggestion would be to have a list of local restuarants and good tours. It would be helpful to have a pitcure to send to people for the last turn to the house. The house was perfect but the location was not ideal for our travel desires. We had a great time. I would definately tell others to go, escpecially if they have a big group. Thanks for everything!
