Beautiful home in a Coastal Paradise!

5 of 5
My wife and I and two children (15 & 11) spent a week in this beautiful home last month. It was an incredible experience. The house is amazing with a view of the ocean and surrounding landscape that is impossible to put into words. Looking out from the deck or infinity pool and seeing macaws and other beautiful birds fly by below was something we will never forget. The resort and beach are a short drive away. Horse back riding along the hillside and down on the beach, fishing for spanish mackerel, zip-lining through the treetops at night, exploring tidal pools, and body-boarding on perfect waves - we didn't want to leave! The resort staff and the people of Punta Islita are exceptionally friendly. It is a bit "off the beaten path" to get there, but totally worth it! We felt very welcome and safe. And for the first time in a very long time, we had a family vacation that was such a cool adventure it made our kids forget about X-Box, TV, and One Direction!

Magical Spot

5 of 5
Amapola is well situated near an unpaved and windy dirt road which leads up to the hotel. (A brick-paved path for walking or for a golf cart is much quicker and easier!) It makes for a most invigorating morning walk and was a great way to start the day. It passes right by the Ara Project grounds which is now re-introducing beautiful young scarlet macaws back into the area. These majestic birds are a beautiful ( and noisy)sight overhead when we are lucky enough to sight them. The villa is nicely laid out with a great room that opens right on to the pool. The kitchen area is complete with every modern convenience. The ocean is within easy walking distance where there is a second hotel pool and a lovely restaurant that serves lunch and breakfast. For those who prefer not eating every meal at the hotel a villa is the only way to go. A rental 4 wheel drive vehicle is essential and readily available via the Internet. The owner has done a beautiful job in ensuring total privacy -with dense lush tropical plantings- in the enclosed area in the rear of the property where the pool is located. Although we booked the Amapola sight unseen, we could not have been more pleased with the choice.
