Best of all worlds!

5 of 5
With two weeks in and around several different parts of Costa Rica with my wife and teenage daughters, I knew I did not want to spend the time and money looking for restaurants 3 times a day. We decided to hotel it up in Samara and Playa Negra and then find a house to rent as a base camp for a week in Playa Hermosa. From previous surf trips with the boys I knew that Jaco is a more of a scene than I wanted my girls to be immersed in 24/7. Playa Hermosa is a mellower alternative but still only 5 minutes from the Jaco action for the few strategic visits we made. This house provided the best of all worlds for us! It's in a guarded community 2 minutes from the beach. As a family we found Playa Hermosa beautiful but being able to get off the beach scene and into the tranquility of this house at day's end was very welcomed. The place is modern, super comfortable with all the amenities you need from blender to bbq to washer/dryer to wi-fi. There is also A/C in every room if you need it - though we were more than comfortable taking our fresh home-delivered swordfish to the covered patio by the pool right outside the door. Nothing says "you're in the tropics" better than an outdoor dinner with a thunder & lightening show all the while being fanned by the outdoor ceiling fan. (ask Kelie about the guy and his son that deliver all sorts of great fresh seafood to the community and definitely, DEFINITELY, follow her suggestions on the pamphlet in the house regarding Jaco & Hermosa restaurant recommendations). The daytrip to the Manual Antonio National Park was easy - less than an hour's drive south. Don't forget to check out the town of Quepos right before Manuel Antonio as it is definitely cooler with more good restaurants and places to get a cold beer with a view than the guidebooks give it credit for. It reminded me of Laguna Beach 40 years ago. Oh, last but not least, relax in comfort with peace of mind knowing that if you need anything or need to know anything Kelie is an easy phone call away on the land-line provided in the house - she's an expat that lives right there in the gated community. It doesn't get any easier than this house!

Nice villa, as advertised! 4 stars!!

4 of 5
My girlfriend and I rent this villa for one week. It was perfect and exactly as you can see on the pictures. The villa is part of a small gated and secure residential area. The house is vast and well maintained. Each big private room has A/C and ceiling fan. The pool is a must with the hot weather of Costa Rica. Kelie (the manager) is super friendly and really helpful. Her suggestions are all "musts" in the area. Don't miss the small and typical local restaurant Los Amendros in Esterillos Oeste, the RainMaker mountain near Parrita and the romantic bar or restaurant in Villa Caletas hotel (amazing sunset view!). On the property you have mangos, you can see hummingbirds every day and Aras flying over the villa going in the mountain at the end of the day. In the area (car is highly recommended and don't rent smaller than a Toyota Rav-4!) you can find everything you need within 10-15 minutes (grocery, local shops, markets in Jaco), beaches, surf lessons, Zip lines, hiking, etc. Beaches: Esterillos has big strong waves and incredibely strong rip current (for advance swimmers and surfers), Playa Hermosa is similar and Playa Jaco has both (strong waves on the right and good waves for beginners on the left of the beach near Costa Del Mar hotel). If you are adventurous, you can find nice hiking trails in the area (ask Kelie) and you can do mountain bike on mountain roads. As described by others, the house as one close neighbour (mostly absent) and the small road is near the pool but it is not bad at all. The BBQ is practical but miss some useful tools (lighter, good brush) and it would be interesting to have candles/candles holder for outside at night and not use electricity! We definitely recommend the villa and maybe even go back with the kids ! Pura Vida! and enjoy your stay in Costa Rica!

Awesome Vacation! Fantastic Home!

5 of 5
This review is well overdue but I am more than happy to write it. Our family has planned for this trip for quite some time now, and Beth as well as Jack have been nothing but helpful in ensuring that we knew everything from what to do whilst in Jacó to transportation from the airport. The whole process was absolutely wonderful and could not have been any smoother! The pictures that we saw here on VRBO were very accurate on what we witnessed when we arrived (which in all honesty was a huge concern). The location of the home was also spot on as we walked into the backyard only to see the beach! What I enjoyed most about our experience here in Jacó was that we were in an area that was not crowded with tourist, so there was more room for us to experience CR with the natives. Downtown was most lively and we did enjoy the Taco Bar! I most definitely recommend this property to any of my friends or relatives who want to getaway and still stay in a beautiful home as well as area of CR! Thank you Beth & Jack for welcoming us into your fantastic home, when we return to CR we most definitely will look you up again!
