The best way to see Costa Rica

5 of 5
My wife and I spent a fabulous week at the Villas Casa Loma. This place has to rank as one of Costa Rica's best kept secrets. Absolutely the best way to see this amazing country. Rent yourself an SUV and come stay here. The grounds and accommodations are unbelievably beautiful and peaceful. Stay here and you're within a few minutes of at least a dozen beaches, each one nicer than the last. You can easily have an entire beach to yourself, especially if you're willing to take a short hike. Plenty of excellent restaurants in the area and no shortage of fascinating things to see/do. The owners, Tom and Igor, know everything you could possibly need to know about what to do, and how best to get there. We had booked 4 days at an all-inclusive resort after our week at the Villas, thinking we'd need a few days of pampering after our week of adventuring on our own. Biggest regret of our lives, we should have stayed where we were! Absolutely the best way to see Costa Rica.

Beautiful!

5 of 5
Our family stayed here the week leading up to and including Christmas, and it was one of the loveliest holidays we've had. The pictures don't fully do the house justice. They can't quite capture the intense green of the vegetation or the incredible views all around. We watched the sun rise from one side of the porch each morning, listening to the deep rumble of howler monkeys nearby and watching flocks of birds pass at eye level; and we could catch the sunset each evening from the main section of the porch. The pool is lovely and warm. The house is very comfortable, very well-maintained and well designed for privacy. It comes with ample security--both a small safe in a bedroom and an extensive alarm system. We did have Internet access by simply using a passcode, despite what other reviewers have said. We had breakfast and cooked dinner each day, and found everything we needed in the kitchen. We were also grateful to have a washer and dryer in the basement. The gardener, Danielo, is an artist--the gardens around the house are truly exquisite, and he came each day to tend to the plants and to the pool. He and the housekeeper were both lovely people. The one thing I would warn visitors of ahead of time: The house is up a very, very steep, rutted dirt road. We were grateful to have rented an SUV.

"A Dream Come True"

5 of 5
My girlfriend and I stayed at Casa Fiesta for a week a few months ago. The house had the most amazing ocean views. At night there is a cool breeze, And no neighbors to deal with. The house is very comfortable with everything that we needed. You do need a 4wd car to stay up in Pacific heights, but we were happy to have a 4wd for our exploring of the area. The caretakers,Diego and Jennifer speak English and do a great job in the house and with recommendations for the area. They live in separate quarters and never seem to be around unless you need something. I would stay in Casa Fiesta again if i come back to this area on a future visit. The house is set up so that if 2 couples shared the rental, they could each be on separate floors (with ocean views from their bedrooms) making it very private for both.
