Relaxing, comfortable, immaculate!

5 of 5
Our family with 3 teenagers spent a week here in November and really enjoyed it. The Osa area is a very beautiful and verdant jungle, with long sand beaches without a lot of people. Villa Tranquila is just outside the village of Ojochal, that hosted some of the most amazing restaurants I've ever been to. Astonishing to have terrific cuisine in that locale. The home is well appointed and comfortably furnished - we had everything we wanted. Beds were great, the bathrooms were modern and crisp. We made quite a few meals there and the kitchen worked fine for the family. The pool was refreshing and we had coffee on the patio every morning listening to the monkeys and watching for toucans. The jungle right behind the house was host to howler monkeys, toucans, hawks and eagles. In November we even had fireflies - magic! Hummingbirds were in the hibiscus in the landscaping and cool insects like walking sticks and praying mantis's could be found in the jungles at the edge of the yard. The house was a wonderful home base for ziplining, jungle tours and just hanging out when we wanted to rest. Thank you Alan and Terry for a lovely experience!

Peaceful Mountain Jungle Wildlife Sunset vacation

5 of 5
This is our second trip to Costa Rica and to this house- once just wasn't enough after experiencing the most relaxing vacation with unbeatable views, wildlife at your doorstep, an impeccably designed, built and furnished home. The pictures of the house are right on, if not even understating how amazing it is in person. The new palapa is great for morning coffee and bird watching, a great addition to an already ideal spot! The pool is unbeatable, it is hard to imagine a reason to leave the house, but if you do, you won't regret it. The beaches are great, ventanas and Leonora beach club, amazing restaurants (citrus & exotica) and plenty of activities if you want them (Corcovado rainforest tour, OSA zip lining, horse rides). Did I mention the daily toucans & howler monkeys at the house and the ocelot we saw tonight on our way home from dinner? Amazing! The year rounders here on the mountain, the Hamilton's, are great should you need anything, and the owners are also great! Renting a car locally is a must, a rugged manual preferably, and getting here from San Jose is a decent trek (hire a driver!) but it is all so worth it! Hopefully this won't be our last visit to this magical hidden gem in a still un-touristy part of CR!

Perfect location and layout!

5 of 5
We love to stay in different area of Costa Rica. Unfortunately, we just can't help ourselves. Every trip has to include a week at Casa de Ventanas. The location is perfect. It is an easy drive (and I do not say this lightly in Costa Rica!) to activities and parks on the west coast. If you are wondering where the really terrific restaurants are in Costa Rica-- Ojochal, just down the road. Citrus is outstanding. Don't miss the passion fruit sorbet concoction at Exotica for dessert. There are fishing tours, multiple excellent canopy tours, fab beaches, a wonderful horseback/waterfall tour, nature preserves, eco-tours, surfing, and much more. Every morning we got up early so as not to miss what were often dozens of toucans in the trees around the rancho. Every evening we swim in the pool overlooking the ocean. Howler monkeys are all over the area. Down by the property waterfall, our guests watched coatimundi playing. We have taken friends the last two trips and they have also vowed to return. The beautiful casa is perfect for families and couples. The master bedroom is on one side of the house and 2 additional bedrooms on the other end. Every bedroom has an en suite bath. Everything you need to grill your fresh caught fish or make tall frozen drinks is on hand. The grocery is close by. We stayed in other casas in the area before finding this one. Before you select a place, ask about the drive up the mountains. This casa is only a few minutes drive, you do not have to ford any streams in your vehicle to get there (often the case) and the roads are well kept and wider than many -- allowing two way traffic. Management is great and it is nice to have free skype and internet if you need it to touch base with home. You'll definitely want a mountain view and breezes. Casas on the beach can get quite hot. If you are looking for a resort with lots of crowds and chain restaurants, this place is not for you! This is a fantastic casa in the middle of all the nature and people the make Costa Rica so incredible!
