Amazing location and beautiful home! Great place to live like a king.

5 of 5
This house fit the bill for our vacation to the Nosara area. Had an amazing time. It is a truly amazing home. Only issues to consider are 1. It's listed as in Nosara, but is actually in Garza. You have a beautiful view of Guiones, but you actually have to go back around the mountain to Garza and then drive over to Guiones or Pelada. Takes about 20 minutes and the roads are rough. That said, Guiones and Pelada are both extremely dusty and don't have the views that this home has. I loved being out of it all. Just make sure that's what you want. 2. The security in this home is top of the line and I greatly appreciated it. One of those little nuggets of info about Costa Rica that gets swept under the rug too often is there is an abundance of break ins and thefts. Virtually no violent crime to speak of, but almost every expat who lives there and a lot of the tourists have stories of getting their homes broken into and property stolen. This home does the best job I've ever seen of dealing w/ that. Not only is it in a gated community on the top of a mountain, but the security in the home, including the sledgehammer proof screens and steel doored valuables room make it completely unappealing to thieves. The only issue I had was, upon arrival, we were issued a set of keys that looked like your average high school janitor's. We ended up picking off a few we needed the most, and then locked the rest in the bodega. I would bet that's what most people do. Anyway, back to the home. It's incredible. Simple lay out. Everything works... and it's gorgeous. Gets great breezes. You can always find a shady spot. Our kids loved the pool. Also, worth mentioning is that everything is well sealed, and it does as good a job as I imagine is possible in Costa Rica at keeping the bugs out. This is a big deal I assure you! At a rental property we stayed at later in our trip, the doors and windows were warped somewhat and we found more than one scorpion in that house. No surprises like that at all at David and Linda's home! Long story short... if you want to live like a king, this is a great place to do it. One other warning though, be aware if you book thru VRBO (on any home... not just this one.) that VRBO shows the check out date as the last date of your stay! Most places the last date is the last night you stay there. We got bit in the butt by this... but it was in NO WAY David and Linda's fault! Just a different way VRBO does it, I didn't catch.

Perfect group retreat!

5 of 5
After making a few wrong turns we finally found the quiet, fairly secluded Guiones Beach club and the stunning Paloma Azul. The place completely exceeded expectations! Each room had its own private bath and A/C, fan and beautiful high cathedral ceilings. The outdoor combination living "room" and kitchen were a treat to have as a communal area for games, yoga, breakfast, lunch, and general lounging. The set up was perfect for our group of ladies wanting some privacy and relaxation and possibly often times operating different schedules. The beach is a short walk down a private path making it easy to come and go as you please. The walk into "town" is a bit longer by road but a beautiful stroll on the beach gives you access to all the various access points to restaurants, shops, etc. Being on the southern end of Nosara made it feel more private yet accessible - a fantastic combination. Nosara is quite clearly a special place and the secret (if there was one) is out. It appears that the lots surrounding Paloma Azul are for sale, so the feeling of being tucked away may indeed change in years to come. We loved the staff, especially Bernando and Elena, the chef. They were professional and always available for all of our requests without ever feeling intrusive. We wanted to take them with us :) Lulu the dog was so sweet and would greet us coming "home" on our walks up from the beach. Truly a wonderful retreat.

A comfortable stay in a modern and clean house.

5 of 5
I had a wonderful stay with a helpful landlord. Gildas spent time on my arrival to introduce me to the house features and to the best route to the beach for those amazing Playa Guiones "primordial" sunsets with the pelicans swirling and diving into the waters for their last fish meal. The house was solid construction and modern design as advertised. A wonderful, open cooks kitchen with extras like some additional spices and enough space to roller-skate if I desired! Blender and other small appliances were top notch. A cook's convection oven. No reason to dine out if you like to cook -- the very closeby Nosara "super-mercado" stocks all your needs including a butcher and fresh vegetables and wines and liquors. A refreshing and clean plunge pool, indoor and outdoor living rooms, nice modern design baths (plenty o hot water). The outdoor large round sofa/chaise was a pleasure to read and nap on. The garden was well tended and added a nice touch of green during the winter dry season. The supplied stereo amp (with sub-woofer) fit well with my Pandora app (internet radio) so I could listen to my favorite Jazz while reading or eating. Gildas realized that I was alone as my companion had to stay back home. He offered and stopped by one evening and proved that he is also a good French cook (heavenly baked fresh fish catch in a moist, rendered sauce). While you may not get this optional treat; I was overwhelmed by such a generous offer and felt lucky.
