We stayed for two weeks in March of 2014 at the Villa Oceanis and found the entire process very relaxing, from booking to departure. The owner is approachable and fastidious with booking arrangements and Frabrice and Pattie contacted us before our arrival to make us feel welcome and saw to all of our needs while we were staying at Oceanis.
The unit itself is wonderful, cool air conditioning in each bedroom, well appointed bathrooms, a comfortable kitchen, dining and living space, and the gardens, pool and deck are simply out of this world! Never before have my wife and I felt so relaxed while on vacation.
Ahead of our stay I had read many horror stories about rental car agencies and driving in CR, but after a few days at the Villa we realized that to maximize our time and see everything we wanted that it made sense to rent a vehicle. Fabrice was very helpful and made arrangements for us to rent a SUV from Budget in Tamarindo. They were friendly and helpful, but watch out for the damage deposit, they originally wanted close to $1800, but it will be lower if you opt for complete insurance coverage (which I certainly would). Driving in Costa Rica during the dry season is completely safe and we didn't have so much as a flat (though we were prepared and they are cheaply fixed).
Immediately around the condo is the Hotel Iguanazul with great local food, and happy hour specials. The Supermercado Junquillal is a 15 minute walk and offers a selection of groceries though not very much in the way of produce or meat. Next door is Amigo's, which also has fantastic food (try their nachos!). We did our grocery shopping at the Auto Mercado in Tamarindo (clean, modern and a little pricey) along with the Super Mercado in Santa Cruz (lower prices but not as many imported options).
We also drove and stayed a night in Puntarenas so that we could zip line at the Adventure Park (out of this world and a must do if you enjoy zip lines and waterfalls), drove to see the Rio Celeste Waterfall and stayed at the Hideaway (out of this world hotel) and went to El Viejo for a boat tour of Palo Verde (which was also phenomenal). Frabrice also made arrangements for us to ATV with Adrenalin Tours which was a fun and dusty afternoon.
Villa Oceanis affords you the opportunity to set your own pace and pick and choose those activities you are interested in, which makes for a relaxing and fun vacation. Surfing, fishing, snorkelling, diving, horse back riding, rodeos/festivals, g
