Spectacular Home by the Sea!

5 of 5
We traveled to the Mal Pais/ Santa Teresa area in March of 2014 and had the incredible opportunity to stay at Pez Volador. Jeremy was so accommodating and guided us through every step of the way. I had so many questions for him before we actually reserved the home and he did not hesitate at all to answer all my questions and help set up all the tours, car rental and chef for us. All we had to do was just show up! Everything was take care of for us which we greatly appreciated. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and I have to say that we truly found a piece of paradise. We loved eating at the local restaurants enjoy our days at the beach and lounging by the pool at the house. The sunsets from this home are like no other. The home is fully equipped and the staff is incredible. They were there when we needed them and were very attentive. We had plenty of room for all 10 of us, the home is very large and has enough space to be all together or enjoy a book by yourself on the lanai's. We will be renting this home again! Our group highly recommends this home!

Amazing and welcoming home in Mal Pais

5 of 5
Casa Blanca is simply amazing. My wife and I had an incredible time. The views are ridiculous and the infinity pool was amazing. The house has everything you can possibly ask for or want. I miss waking up to that view. The house is very clean and the care takers are unbelievably helpful. The sound system and the media room were also great bonuses. We really can't wait to go back.

I have stayed in this house three times over 6 years. The first, my now husband and I fell in love. The second, we brought all our loved ones and had our wedding. And we just returned to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. To say that it's special to us, is an understatement. But for the sake of this review, I will try and leave my obsession for this home aside. THE HOUSE: The house itself rests right on the beach. You will spend most of your time in the wade-in pool and you can hear the waves while you swim. The pool is the center of the home (you can see in the pictures)--each morning you will open the huge glass and wooden doors to the outside, connecting indoors directly to the outdoors. The grounds are landscaped impeccably. Inside, each of the suites could be their own stand alone living quarters. You have complete privacy, they're hugely spacious and they are romantic and grand. Each opens to the outside. And most importantly, they are all air conditioned (it's hot in Costa Rica!). When we didn't enjoy dinners outside, we would take advantage of the giant dining area and create massive spreads for everyone. After dinner, we would have cocktails at the tiki bar in the house and typically head back to the pool. The house is so customized. The wood comes from the owners teak farm and every detail has been taken into consideration--it just feels so special. LOCATION: Nothing is more than a 5 minute quad ride away, but you feel like you're totally secluded. You can go ziplining right up the road. We always go to the fishing boats to get fresh fish. And we love to stop in and visit friends at the Surf Camp--each time, our guests have taken surf lessons and loved it. You can get a board for the day for (something like) $10. You have tons of restaurants around you! DINING: Mal Pais has amazing food. Our favorite is Mary's. We literally ordered every item on their special board and weren't disappointed with a single dish. The sushi place is great, but the service is pretty lax. There's a new bakery that has amazing coffee and delicious breakfast. There's so many great restaurants on the beach--really you can slip into most places and just have aps and cocktails for very little money and just enjoy the beauty of this place. TIP: You have to have a quad/ 4-wheeler. They're not cheap and you don't want to run out of gas.
