Have a way cool vacation in Caribe Costa Rica!!!

There were 4 of us, two adults and two children. A very unique vacation spot. Randy is a great host - he pointed out the howler monkies who foraged on the property for a few days, the sloth hanging out in the tree, and lots of fresh fruit. Truly an amazing place to visit. The weather is fantastic..humid but not too hot. Felt great. Do bring mosquito spray and a few citronella candles for night. The beach not too far. It was amazing because usually we had the whole beach to ourselves - it stretched out for miles and miles! You would never have this in the states. I would suggest renting a car since the drive to town takes about 5-10 minutes. We were able to buy groceries and cook many of our meals. The local bakeries have a French influence. Puerto Viejo (about 10 minutes away) had the best chocolate croissants - worth the drive. Many activities close by. We went on the chocolate tour which was very educational and at the end we were able to assist in making raw chocolate! The Caribe side isn't for one who likes American style mega resorts. Cahuita has a very mellow laid back style. It seems as if you are stepping back into the past - a much slower pace of life. Kudos to Randy!!!!

I think this place looks better in person then in pictures, if that's possible!! We LOVED this place, it was set amongst the jungle, you could hear all the birds and sometimes monkeys. It was so relaxing in the evening, we would be gone all day then come back and relax and it was so open and airy and you just felt so at peace. Place was cleaned for us everyday, when a water line broke in town they fixed us up right away. So kind and gracious! Must eat at 'soda" Johannas, she had the best food. I recommend staying here as it is a little south of P.V(which i felt was more for a younger party crowd) the beaches are better in this area! Rent bikes, they are a great way to get around, and cheap too! $4 or $5 aday! This place is a must visit!! And they have smaller places and a larger place, so check their website out too!!
