This low-frills property is directly across from the beautiful beach near a sleepy (practically rural) village. We spent our days plunging into the surf with our 7 & 10 year old kids, and had a great time. Note that the surf can be rough on this beach with dangerous rip tides, so you have to be careful. We rented some boogie boards and were thrilled. For true surfers this place would be heaven.
That said, it was our first trip to Costa Rica, so we weren't quite prepared for the multiple locks on the doors, the need to lock all valuables away in a room with a metal door, the house alarm and night guard. We were told this wasn't that unusual that the only thing to worry about was petty theft. I suppose in the end we were glad the owners took precautions, but the house had clearly been broken into before. The place is slightly run down and not luxurious. That said, it has a beautiful setting on a wild, gorgeous beach and the price is very competitive. There's a bit of wildlife in the area and we were fortunate to see brilliant scarlet red macaws. Perfect for just chilling on the beach and to use as a base camp for day trips to Manuel Antonio or Jaco.
