Heavenly!

5 of 5
We were a group of 9 adults and 8 children all under 6 years old and rented both houses. I can’t say enough good things about this property. Esterillos Este is a very quiet community 30 minutes south of Jaco with an incredible beach. There are very few people on the beach, the water is about 85 degrees. Our kids love to play in the surf. The beach is dark fine sand so it’s very hot during the day but perfect in the late afternoon to watch the incredible sunsets and play in the waves. The houses are next to the Pelican Hotel, which has great food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The house is about 2-2.5 hours from the San Jose airport. Diana and Mikey at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. You can hear the music playing all day, but we felt it enhanced the atmosphere. The houses were the most well equipped we’ve every stayed at. We cooked almost all of our meals and there was more than enough plates, cups, etc for all of us. Debbie helped get us a maid, Patricia, who came from 8am-2pm every day. We paid her $300 total for 9 days. She was great- she made the beds, did the dishes, cleaned the floors and tidied up the house (which was needed with 8 kids!). The hotel did the laundry for us and we just tipped the woman who did the clothes $2-5/load. The property was safe at night. There is a grocery store on the highway at the North end of Jaco and one in Parrita, which is closer, but doesn’t have much variety. The location is perfect- you can do a day trip to Manuel Antonio or Dominical or head north to Puntarenas. The waves were great for surfing and you can rent surf equipment at the hotel. We even had massages by the beach. The bathrooms were beautiful and all the AC and kitchen equipment worked. The pool was warm, but incredibly cloudy. The property has hammocks and a well shaded yard. It truly was everything we were looking for in a relaxing vacation. The internet connection was flawless as well. We have been all over Costa Rica and this is our favorite beach and some of the nicest homes we've stayed at yet. Special thanks to Debbie, Diana and Mikey- we will definitely be back!!!

Beautiful Vacation Home

5 of 5
Our family of 4 traveled with another family of 4 to Costa Rica and we very much enjoyed our stay in this Beautiful vacation home that looks even more amazing in person than in the pictures! The Home: The pool area was by far our favorite hang out! The landscaping was amazing! The pictures don't show that each room has a trundle bed (roll-away bed) so our group of 4 adults and 4 kids fit very comfortably. The property manager Tingo was incredibly helpful for anything we needed. Location: For privacy this house was perfect, it felt like a private luxury getaway. If you like to get out and about though the property was a little too far from the beach to walk (with small children) so I would suggest getting a rental car which is great for day trips to nearby locations. Rental Car: We found out that cars can be rented from Jaco for less than at the airport. We took a private bus from the airport, had it stop at a grocery store to stock up, spent a few days lounging and enjoying the house and then took a taxi to Jaco to rent a car. Beaches: Esterillos Beach (5 min drive) was beautiful and not too populated, we saw lots of scarlet macaws there, Jaco (15 min drive) was more commercial and a nice place for a little shopping. Manual Antonio (40 min drive) was so cool and had lots of neat restaurants (one that it an an old plane you can go in and one that is like a cruise ship that has a pool you can swim in while you wait for your food) The National Park was fabulous to see, lots of wildlife and a protected beach that was incredible. The public beach at Manual Antonio was a great location too, white sands with lots to do and see. We had small kids so we were not able to do any excursions but our family liked to get out and about and took day trips everyday after our first few days and the other family decided not to rent a car and stayed at the house most of the time and both families that travel differently had an amazing time at this great property.

Fantastic home in the Jungle!

5 of 5
Let me start by saying Gerald was such a pleasure to deal with and is a wealth of information! He provided us with many tips on beaches, restaurants and activities. We really appreciated how thorough he was and left no details out. He had a fantastic couple check us in and they even checked on us which made us feel like we had our own Costa Rican family! Thank you Peggy and Greg. The house is really lovely. The location was fantastic and we were dazzled nightly with a troop of monkeys who entertained us. No need for TV here. There is so much nature surrounding you that the sights and sounds are all you need. We really enjoyed our evening walks surrounding the property. The beaches nearby are secluded and gorgeous. We made our way down to Manuel Antonio and enjoyed both the beach and the park. Fantastic. We also did an ATV tour as well as a zip line tour out of Jaco and both were awesome! We would return to this property in a heartbeat. It was a great adventure and I cant say enough about Gerald, the owner.
