Heavenly!

5 of 5
We were a group of 9 adults and 8 children all under 6 years old and rented both houses. I can’t say enough good things about this property. Esterillos Este is a very quiet community 30 minutes south of Jaco with an incredible beach. There are very few people on the beach, the water is about 85 degrees. Our kids love to play in the surf. The beach is dark fine sand so it’s very hot during the day but perfect in the late afternoon to watch the incredible sunsets and play in the waves. The houses are next to the Pelican Hotel, which has great food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The house is about 2-2.5 hours from the San Jose airport. Diana and Mikey at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. You can hear the music playing all day, but we felt it enhanced the atmosphere. The houses were the most well equipped we’ve every stayed at. We cooked almost all of our meals and there was more than enough plates, cups, etc for all of us. Debbie helped get us a maid, Patricia, who came from 8am-2pm every day. We paid her $300 total for 9 days. She was great- she made the beds, did the dishes, cleaned the floors and tidied up the house (which was needed with 8 kids!). The hotel did the laundry for us and we just tipped the woman who did the clothes $2-5/load. The property was safe at night. There is a grocery store on the highway at the North end of Jaco and one in Parrita, which is closer, but doesn’t have much variety. The location is perfect- you can do a day trip to Manuel Antonio or Dominical or head north to Puntarenas. The waves were great for surfing and you can rent surf equipment at the hotel. We even had massages by the beach. The bathrooms were beautiful and all the AC and kitchen equipment worked. The pool was warm, but incredibly cloudy. The property has hammocks and a well shaded yard. It truly was everything we were looking for in a relaxing vacation. The internet connection was flawless as well. We have been all over Costa Rica and this is our favorite beach and some of the nicest homes we've stayed at yet. Special thanks to Debbie, Diana and Mikey- we will definitely be back!!!

Oceanside fun

5 of 5
Three generations (including 7-yr old grandson) and everyone loved this 5-day vacation place! Setting is outstanding: ocean waves big enough to surf, but not so big the daring amongst us weren't out everyday jumping the waves, starting at sunrise. At the edge of a little fishing village, it has one of the longest open stretches of beach you can imagine. House has big picture windows for the ocean view, ceiling fans, good-sized kitchen, outdoor barbecue facilities, long front porch for with picnic table -- great spot for reading and watching the waves crashing. Wonderful plus of an outside shower to wash away the sand and ocean salt before coming inside. Very quiet area; village has a small SuperSol (market); and a little bar that serves homemade ice-cream ($1) in the afternoon. One of loveliest beaches in the area. Memorable sunrises, and sunsets.
