LUXURY FAMILY VACATION!

5 of 5
In April 2014 our family spent an amazing week at Casa Big Sur in Costa Rica. Casa Big Sur is indeed a family friendly, luxury home with a million dollar view out almost every window. Housekeeper, Carolina, groundskeeper, Didier, and property manager, Ben took care of all our needs while we were there. The home had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. The house is in close driving proximity to beach caves at Ventanas Beach, the Whales Tail at Punta Uvita Beach, Manual Antonio National Park, and of course various surf breaks. Despite the close proximity to all these things, my 7 and 9 year old kids favorite part of the trip was the amazing infinity pool at Casa Big Sur. Here they spent hours playing, bird watching, and in awe of the view. Thank you Casa Big Sur for the magical and unforgettable family vacation. We hope to return soon.

GREAT VACATION!! WE LOVED CASA BONITA!!

5 of 5
We spent a week at Casa Bonita with our 3 adult sons, daughter-in-law, 2 grandchildren and my sons girlfriend. The house was amazing, the children loved the pool and the adults loved the view. There was more than enough room in the house for everyone to have their privacy. We chose Dominical because we wanted to be on the coast, close to the mountains and out of the city. Casa Bonita was perfect for our family. It was really nice having wifi at the house, we had no cell service. There was a family medical emergency at home, it was nice to be able to stay in touch by email. Casa Bonita was an easy drive from the airport thanks to GPS and all the information the owners gave us. We rented 2 SUV's for the week. We had no problems and always felt safe on our trip. The people we met in Dominical were very friendly and helpful. Romulo the concierge was very helpful. He was always available if we needed his assistance. He came by the house several times during the week to clean the pool, maintain the property and check on us. Anytime there was a small problem, he did his best to solve it. Romulus bought groceries for us and cooked dinner the night we arrived. He is a great chef and shared recipes with my sons. We visited Manuel Antonio National Park, our family loved the monkeys and raccoons. One person in our group said it was the best $ 10 we spent in Costa Rica. Romulo arranged a white water rafting trip for us, we had a great time. The guides were excellent. We also took an ATV tour through the mountains. On both theses tours you see the true beauty of Costa Rica. There are many great restaurants in the area, our favorite was Por Que No. You must try their stuff French toast if you are ever in the area. My sons watched the World Cup games at Tortilla Flats and visited the rum bar. We were very worried about the rain when we left Houston. On every weather site they had predicted 40 to 70% chance of rain for everyday we were there, but it just really rained every night so it didn't interfere with our activities. The owners gave us so much information, answered all our questions and was always available by email or phone. I was a little uneasy about wiring money but there were no problems. We received our deposit 3 days after we got home. We would like to thank Melissa, Jen and Romulo for helping us have a perfect Costa Rica vacation. We look forward to visiting again. FABULOUS VIEWS & PERFECT LOCATION!

5 of 5
I can't say enough positive things about Storm & Amy's villa. It is exactly as advertised, kitchen is well-stocked, including decent bath & beach towels (none of those tiny, scratchy white ones here!). The views are amazing, I could have sat out on the deck all day but there were too many fun things to do in the area. We saw toucans, monkeys, lizards and tons of other birds right from the deck. We also hiked farther up the road into the rainforest early in the morning and saw lots of poison dart frogs. Having a private pool was fantastic - our kids could swim as much as they liked while we were making meals or whatever, instead of a community pool where we'd have to chaperone them. Amy & Storm left us with several suggestions on beaches / restaurants, as well as recommendations for activities. Highly recommend Sunset Surf for surf lessons & the Nauyaca Falls horseback trip. I would stick with the beaches they recommend, they were all great. One day we went to the Marino Ballena National Park beach (which was not on their list). Although the beach was visually awesome, the vibe there was a little unpleasant - police patrolling the beach and some locals eyeing our stuff a little too closely. There are too many other nice beaches that are free with a more relaxed vibe. Playa Ventanas was awesome, be prepared to pay a German guy who lives there about $5 to park, but it's worth it. The villa has 3 AC units, one in each bedroom and one on the main level, so we found that we only needed to run the bedroom ACs at night, the rest of the time, we could just open the doors & windows. The location is fantastic, walking distance to Dominicalito beach and a waterfall with a swimming hole, and just a short drive to other beaches & restaurants. We ate at several of the restaurants Amy & Storm recommended, including their own Jolly Roger (great, friendly staff & awesome views!), Tortilla Flats, PorQueNo, La Parcela and Sabor Espanol to name a few. It is the tropics and sometimes things don't work as consistently as in the US (water, power, WIFI, etc), but the few minor occurrences didn't impact our trip. I've lived and worked in a lot of tourist destinations and I can honestly say the local population in this part of CR is friendlier and more laid back than anywhere else I've traveled. They truly are living the Pura Vida!
